Columbia, April 1966

I'm posting in a hurry, so this one will be brief!

Here's a nice picture of the American windjammer "Columbia" heading towards the dock. Nobody seems to remember that the figurehead talked to people in a high-pitched "SeƱor Wences" voice. It's true!

A view from on deck...

And another one. The air is so hazy you can cut it with a butter knife and spread it on bread.

You are the MOST CONSISTENT BLOGGER I know! Thank you for posting so many beatiful park pix! They make me so happy and give me a little (impossible, retro) vacation in the middle of my day. You provide a valuable service to so many people!

So Major, if you asked the Columbia figurehead if it's alright, she would always answer back, "S'awriiiight"....right?

yesss to what JeffHopkins said! You do dat, Maj., you do.

I tink TM's right, provided you're a woodworker. :) Whereas if I asked Splinterella if it's alright, she'd say, "Behold ye! To what far world's shore has our journey o'er these endless circling waters brought us!" and should the Major ask, she may reply, "Wooden Sailing Ship Figureheads Also Blog."

The Columbia looks so awesome to me in that top pic. :)

It still always amazes me how dressed up people used to get when they went to Disneyland. The woman have on full dresses that you might wear to a semi-formal occasion and the man always wore nice slacks. You almost never see a grown man in shorts. Incredible how times have changes.

And oh yeah, props to you Major. I don't know how you keep this up every day, but I sure do appreciate it.
