Main Street 1955

From sometime in August 1955, here is a look at the Upjohn Pharmacy. The fancy stained-glass mortar and pestle lamp is not in place yet, but hopefully the jar full of delicious, squirming, slimy leeches were inside! They make great pets. Not an amazing photo, but I love it for because of its antiquity.

Now, for a sad one, marred by significant light leaks (and you're seeing after I spent a lot of time trying to make it tolerable) is this shot taken from the steps of Main Street Station, overlooking Town Square. It's fun to imagine that mere weeks before this photo was snapped, opening day ceremonies had taken place!

No matter what the problem -- Still great pictures.

You are right Major, it is kind of fun to look at that pic of Town Square and think about Walt Disney standing there just weeks before, dedicating the park to the world.

I forgot to comment on yesterday's pics, but they did leave me drooling. I truly love ALL your vintage pics, but anything of Nature's Wonderland Mine Train, Captain Hook's Pirate ship, or the 1967 Tomorrowland usually equals drooling. Okay now, you know I don't mean LITERALLY drooling, but my mouth does sometimes drop open......

ooo. I fear for TokyoMagic's keyboard!

Nice curvy chic raising her sunglasses looking at us from in front of the Upjohn Pharm. Is that a cornucopia she bears on her arm? Yes! some lucky man took that picture to remember his lucky moment hehe
