Tomorrowland, September 1967

Ah, there's MY Tomorrowland! Mary Blair's tile mural, the Bell System logo inside "America the Beautiful", the Rocket Jets and Peoplemover, and the GE logo letting me know that I can still go see the Carousel of Progress. Makes me happy just thinking about it.

Here's a different view, taken from the train as it departs Tomorrowland Station. There's plenty of time left to come back and ride everything!

Man, how I loved running into the Bell phone building and calling someone from one of the huge glass phone booths!

Beautiful composition in the first shot, with Mary's art front and center. When I was a kid, I never understood why this art was chosen, but now being (much)older, time has ratified the selection.

Connie, I've got bag full of quarters for the Glass speaker phone booths! I remember even in the 70's its cost a couple bucks just to call the valley! But was so cool to tease your friends "We're at Disneyland and you're not"!

On slow days I'm temped to climb up the side of the current mural and pry it open to see Mary's artwork - someday I predict we are all going to get to see it again - someday.

Great post Major, can't go wrong with these gems.

I really love both these pictures, and I wish there was plenty of time to come back and ride everything.

Sigh.

Wow, this takes me back. I think I'm gonna cry (and for once, I'm actually being serious).

Thanks for the post.
