Fantasyland, 1950's

Here are two photos from the 1950's, featuring Fantasyland. We'll start with this one; there's a lovin' couple posed on the middle of the bridge, looking right at us, so it is safe to assume that this was a portrait of them (barely).

Zooming in to the left, we see some attractive young people (school chums?) taking a break. This was in the days when there wasn't a railing along that bridge (added last year) - they are lucky to be alive. Notice the kid in the background with his mouse ears!

This one can only have been taken from the steps up to the Skyway chalet; it provided a slightly elevated view of Fantasyland. To our right is tent where food was dispensed (is this one "Fant 2"?). The colors are interesting, brownish-olive and orange-red. But it works! Thank goodness it's not purple and pink, anyway.

Nice shot of the castle back when it looked like a castle. The latest overlay makes it look like a Frozen nightlight. And, yup, that is Fan 2 in the second photo. Thanks for yet another cool post!

Fan 2 was next to Alice. This is Fan 1.

That tent is wearing Freddy Krueger's sweater! Run, kids!

Fan 1 or Fan 2? As Annie would say, I'm your #1 Fan.

In reference to Tom's comment, That 2nd pic would be the Elm Street Café.

Nice pics today. Thanks, Major.

Whoops, of course I meant Fan 1 not 2! Dang!

@ Anonymous-

I can never keep them straight, either. Perhaps they should be renamed Sally Rand, for Fan 1, and Faith Bacon, for Fan 2-? Just a thought.

Anon #1, reading the other comments, it appears that we were both mistaken!

Anon #2, I have to somehow remember that for the next time.

Tom, it DOES look like Freddy’s sweater. Which is funny, because a few days ago my brother and I saw a gardner silhouetted against the bright sun, and he had the same hat as Freddy, and even a striped sweater, and we both said “Freddy Kreuger!” at the same time.

Nancy, I hear trumpets all the time too, but that’s another story!

K. Martinez, would you believe that i still have never seen a “Nightmare on Elm Street” movie? I’ve caught bits and pieces, but never sat through one in its entirety.

Anon #3 (aka #1), it’s OK!

Nano, “Faith Bacon”? Is that God’s Favorite Bacon?

I see a stairway leading up to a door on the second floor of the Fantasyland/MM Club Theater. Does anyone know what was up there?

K. Martinez, MISTER MAN!

That was an Annie Wilkes/Kathy Bates reference, wasn't it Ken?

@ TokyoMagic-

To the projection booth, perhaps-?

Love the little turret on top of the Freddy tent.

K. Martinez said...

@TokyoMagic! - You are correct. And don't forget that Corrasable Bond smudges!

TokyoMagic!, very interesting... I suppose it could be a way to get roof access.

TokyoMagic! again, I didn't get the reference....

Nanook, once again, spell check wants to make your name "Nano" (as it did in my comment). Projection booth is a good guess.

Melissa, that is the best place to stand when you want arrows to rain down upon the guests.

K. Martinez, man, I don't think I've seen that movie since it came out!

I really like that second pic. All the flags waving and receding into the distance make small Fantasyland seem much larger. Like an actual kingdom!
