Das Blue Lagoon, May 1964

I am mighty fond of this picture of the sub lagoon, with the primrose-yellow 4-car Monorail ("What's that word?") zipping along the beamway overhead. I am also mighty fond of waffles with butter and maple syrup (with a side of bacon). What are YOU fond of?

Another view, taken from somebody wearing a jetpack. Or maybe they're on the Skyway, who knows. I prefer jetpacks, and silver jumpsuits, and cool helmets, and adoring babes waiting for me to land.

Love the composition in that top photo. I miss that yellow! It was all over tomorrowland back in the good old days. As for jetpacks, don't get me started! I want the Jetsons future I was promised!

Is there a chance the track could bend?

@TokyoMagic! Not on your life, my Hindu friend!

bloefeld, I agree, although I admit to wishing that the Monorail was a bit further along the beamway. Picky, that's me.

TokyoMagic! and Melissa, I'm not sure if the "Monorail" episode of the Simpsons was the best ever, but that "Music Man" scene ranks among the best for sure! The Planet of the Apes musical is up there too.

Nancy, if you can't stop smiling, everyone is going to think that you are crazy!

Donuts. Is there nothing they can't do?

I love these old pictures of Tomorrowland. I keep hoping to see some of August 1969 when my family visited. For some dumb reason my mom was opposed to taking photos.

@Melissa and Major Pepperidge....but Main Street's still all cracked and broken!

Tom, I am in the same boat. Although my family went to Disneyland many times, we apparently never brought a camera.

TM! - Sorry Mom, the mob has spoken!

What are we fond of? We are fond of the memories you evoke with your old snapshots of places we've visited. . . or the wonder and mystery of places we've never seen. We are fond of the smiles and laughs you produce with your humorous commentary and silly non sequiturs. But most of all, we, every one of us, are just plain old fond of you, Major. And that's with or without a side of bacon.

I am mighty fond of GDB...

Also, Major, I have many photos taken while wearing my jetpack, but none so nice as these. It's easier taking photos from my flying car.

And you are right, there is nothing like a silver jumpsuit and a cool helmet to attract my adoring babe...

My daughter is the same way about cameras. She says she doesn't want to see her vacation through the eye piece of a camera, but in real time. Now with digital camera and not having to pay for film and developing, I tend to shoot anything and everything without even looking, and edit out alter. I just keep clicking the button every couple of minutes, and really get a lot of junk. But the few good ones are worth it, and tend to be about the same as being careful about my shots with an old film camera.

RemainSeatedPlease, you get a gold star!

JG, thank you, for reals!

CoxPilot, I also don't like to lug a camera around, even though part of me wants photos. Maybe if I went the park more I would find the time. Your idea of clicking all the time with a digital camera is an interesting one, I'll have to try someday!

They make a little airlock for that. It's known as the LipLock.
