Minnie Mouse - January 1960

I love this picture of a cute little girl, who is in no way frightened by Minnie Mouse. I am, and I'm just looking at a photo! In the background you can see the Yacht Bar with its ultra-modern angled roof. The little boy is stylin' in his red sweater and checkered floods. I should look so good! He's about to ask the girl for her phone number; maybe she can come over to his place for milk and cookies.

I'm not sure why I made this jpeg so big. I was probably distracted by monkeys (they're everywhere). It's a fairly standard view of a sub as it rounds a curve, and heads towards the waterfall entrance to the show building in which the dark ride portion of this attraction took place.

That Minnie photo is a classic! The kid in the checkered pants is a "Pat" in my book; could be a girl, too.

Extra big pic of the sub lagoon and there are no mermaids? How odd! But I am happy with the mistake because it will go that much better on my desktop. Like those subs and fun monorail track. :)

Minnie looks cute, much better than some earlier ones. I also see orange and bronze skyway buckets. :)

As standard fair goes, that's a pretty exceptional picture of the 'grays'.

Daveland, I guess you're right! Now that I look again, "Pat" could be a girl.

Chiana, I'm not sure if this info is correct, but Wikipedia says that the mermaids were only there during summers from 1965 through 1967. I feel like maybe I've seen photos of mermaids in earlier years, but will have to go back and check.

Thufer, it's not a bad photo, but you have no idea how many images I don't scan that are very similar!

Aww that little blondie is the quintessential "Happy Disneyland Kid." I could look at photos like that all day. If only every child could have the opportunity to be an "HDK" for a day...

Wow...Minnie's face is adorable but her outfit - hideous. When did she switch to the red with white polks dots?? Love looking at everything in the background.

I'm with Hannahx2, the kids are wonderful.

and with Thufer, great shot of the submarine lagoon. This location is not far from Vintage tickets "Three Fences" location, even though no fences are visible.

Lack of mermaids is a point off, but since they were available only in a narrow band, it will be just fine anyway.

Thank you Major.

Boys at that age all had buzz crewcuts back in 1960. I'm betting it is a girl in the red sweater.

It makes one wonder where they all are today.

lovely subs....*sigh*

Minnie looks pretty nice (love her eyelashes!) compared to the really early ones, but those shoes have seen better days

Tomorrowland images are always my favorite ones :-D

No matter the sex of our friend in the red sweater, it's most-assuredly a girl's sweater as the buttons are on the left side. So there's a good possibility 'she's' sporting a pre-Parent Trap, Haley Mills "do".

Hannahx2, wouldn't you think that the little girl (now in her mid-50's) would want to keep this photo of such a happy day? I wonder why she didn't.

Connie, there just aren't that many wardrobe options for giant mice!

JG, I wish I had thought to visit the "three fences" when I was there, just to see that little piece of fence that's been there since the 60's (or late 50's?).

OC Native, you have convinced me that I am wrong!

Nancy, Minnie uses Mabeline.

Nanook, you have convinced me even more!

Ha! I when I looked at that photo this morning, I thought the kid in the red sweater looked a little androgynous, but I still like your description of the kids and the situation!

Yes that thought did cross my mind! And what she looks like and is doing today... Memories, man.. do they mean anything?
