Fuzzy Disneyland, January 1960

Today's photos really are foggy. Do not adjust your computer monitors! Or go ahead and adjust them, it's a free country. This picture of the busy Plaza is fun... folks are bundled up because it is January, which means that temperatures have plummeted down into the low 60's. Soon the guests will realize that they must eat each other to survive. The Horse Drawn Streetcar is so popular that folks have to wait their turn to ride it. Christmas wreaths and garlands decorate the castle... it looks like it would have been a fun day to visit the park.

Awwwww yeeeeeaaaaahhh! Now that's a picture worth taking; I think the photographer was on the moving sidewalk that would take you up to the Monorail platform. The cute 3-car blue Monorail gleams in bright sunshine, looking even more dramatic against that cloudy sky. If you look carefully, you can see a purple Autopia car; it seems as if that particular hue was only used for a relatively short span of time.

So strange to see people all bundled up in a Disneyland picture.

Hmmmm! What should I go on with my "A" ticket? I guess it's the Horse-Drawn Street Car for me!

Mike Cozart, I have to agree with you!

Melissa, I've been there in very cold and rainy weather... in a weird way it was nice! Everybody went home, then the rain stopped. I've never seen the park so quiet and beautiful.

K. Martinez, I still need to ride the Omnibus (from the top level), that's what I'll do with my A ticket!

It is kind of interesting the lack of ornaments on the castle in comparison to what they do today with the snow etc.... Is it overdone today or was it underdone back in 1960?

That is the question.

'Fuzzy' adds a surreal feeling to the images.

As far as too many/too few ornaments, that's obviously a matter of preference. One can probably argue things were a bit on the "thin side" back in 1960.

On the other hand - many of what Disney Entertainment attempts these days can be considered more than "over-the-top". They seem to traffic in that sort of thing. And in some cases (a small few) that can work.

However, there's a lot to be said for "less is more".
