Three From '57

All of you have been extra good this week, so I am posting three photos from 1957 as a reward!

When our photographer arrived, the sky was cloudy and gray, but that didn't get these visitors down... they're going to have a great time! The cars are so much fun here. Choose your favorite!

Obviously the haze burned off early, and the day turned out to be bright and sunny. This is a common (but nice) shot of a busy Fantasyland.

Back in Town Square, the sun is already on its way towards the horizon. We aren't going home already are we?? The Surrey is in the foreground, silhouetted against and brilliantly sunlit Opera House and Bank of America.

Now everybody knows I've been good, what about my reputation for mischief? Aw.

Is that a 56 T-Bird on the left? 'cause if'n it is, I'll take dat.

Ah was a nice day after all. Look out Dave, strollers. Small ones though, not trainingSUVs. What we'd give for a tripod? Plenty. The sneakers on the tall guy with the loong feet at the fence on the right? Snorkel-ready. The Dad and his Son holding hands and enjoying time together? Priceless.

Surrey ride 10c. Boy I'd hop on that right now if I were there... Or that trolley? Where's the mountain? Loadsa peeps though. :)

Yeah, and how about the boy's dungarees, with 8 inch cuffs to allow for growth!!

Not sure if that is a T-bird, but to be honest, even the Dodge station wagon is pretty cool IMO!

What is it about that Parking Lot that gets me so exited. Must be the anticipation of what is to come. Great pics Major!

WOW, all nice but the parking lot photo is pure '57 Joy. Chiana, I think that's '54 Ford (http://media.motortopia.com/files/11841/vehicle/4807839cf3c94/54ford3_2.jpg) on the left. Plus I see a neat Olds Rocket 88 on the far right and some other funking looking cars down the line (love the Dodge Wagon!). The looks on some of the faces say "come on lets go in!"

The mailbox in the last pic...They still look the same over 50 years on.

These old slides sure are a time machine!

Thanks for the daily dose of fun...

a beautiful, sunny day brings good crowds...

i also went for the station wagon, which reminds me of going to the drive-in already dressed in our jammies to see 'Jack the Giant Killer' in the early 60s!

thanks for the fun memory, Major :)
