Alice & Storybook Land

This first image is from September 1958, when the "Alice In Wonderland" attraction was only a few months old (it opened in June). Here we see three guests riding their caterpillar vehicle towards the rabbit hole, where all kinds of craziness will ensue. I like the "eyes" on the back of the vehicle, they will protect the riders from hungry birds.

Now it's one year later, and here is a photo of the loading area for the Storybook Land canal boats. Nothin' much to say about it, except that it's pretty!

Wonderful pics as always! Love the angle of the storybook one. Has the chicken of the sea ship just peaking over

Do the palms around the tuna boat in the 2nd pic mean Skull Rock was there or in progress, then it'd probably be 1960? Anyway both are cute pics of a neat place that had come out so well considering it was nothing only a few years before. :)

The first picture (and many other photos that you have posted) make me think how a lot of father's must not have gone on the rides just so they could get a shot of their families and then I remembered....my dad did that too!

"Nothin' much to say about it"! Classic Monstro (with sharp teeth), partial ticket booth, round skyway bucket, umbrella's, tuna boat, themed CM, and the palms Chiana asked about, see there's lots to say about it! THANKS!!!

You're right Chiana, Skull Rock was not in place until the following year. I'm not sure when actual construction started for the Rock, but there are palms and other plants visible by the ship in an August 1960 photo (see my post from June 03, 2008).
