Ticket Boof, April 1962

Just one photo for ya today, guys and gals... plus a detail. But it's a nice one!

Ol' Major Pepperidge wasn't around in April 1962, but this picture takes me there, to Disneyland's entry; All we have to do is buy our tickets and we're in! We can probably already hear the train whistle, and maybe seen the Monorail swoosh past in the parking lot. It looks like a beautiful day! You can juuuust see some old flivvers in front of the Mickey portrait.

As you can see from this detail, a family of four could get Jumbo 15 ticket books (which includes admission) for less than $20. What a deal!

*sploof!* Desktopped.

That makes me smile just looking at it. :)

My impression is that the "revenue streams" were more limited and many had lower profit margins than today; if so, a lot more of the whole enterprise was running on those tickets than now.

Any idea what event the old cars were there for? I'm sure with a little digging any of us could find the occasion, but feeling lazy... thought maybe you had the info handy!

They were always having antique car shows at the park. Especially the horseless carriage types.

Nancy, I'm not sure how TokyoMagic knew it was your birthday (are you guys pals?), but Happy Birthday from me as well!

Outsidetheberm, I can only guess that this was another meeting of the Horseless Carriage Club.

thanks for the birthday acknowledgements...

i hope to meet ToykoMagic someday as well as all of you who are lucky enough to live near Disneyland, but no, it was a sorta hidden message in my post.

i am (only) 53 but still a kid of 15 in my head and heart as far as my enjoyment of DL and WDW goes

the only bad thing about being older is that i run out of legs long before i used to when we visit the Parks. :(

i have to work on that!

thanks again
