Let's Eat! July 1963

Today's photos were a fun find! They are both terrific shots of the Space Bar in Tomorrowland - - up close and personal! You can really get a sense of what it was like to be there back in those days. Hmmm, everything sounds so good (isn't that always the way when you are hungry?). Chili served with Fritos brand corn chips! Shakes made with Carnation ice cream! Golden brown french fries! And you can wash it all down with your choice of Pepsi OR Coke, or perhaps some Sunkist lemonade.

Here's another view, this time from the opposite end. The people are almost as fun to observe as the Space Bar itself. Check out the kid with the pink shirt and straw (souvenir?) hat! And the guy behind him looks like FBI Director Walter Skinner from "The X Files". The ladies fashions range from skirts that still looks very 1950's to the more sporty styles that emerged in the mid-60's.

Agreed--fantastic rare shots. The place must have captured the photographer's fancy, too. Nobody else seems to have taken even one shot of this counter, let alone two!

Like I even need to tell you how great these are! This guy was probably teased for taking these photos at the time; now they are coveted.

This is unreal. Absolutely some of the finest pics of all time. These deserve the "OSCAR". Later that night they will close the Space Bar slide in the stage and the "entertainment" will perform. Maybe the "Mustangs".

Notice how everything looks Modern/Tomorrowland-ish, *except* for the Pesi-Cola font which even then was fairly retro.

Doesn't it seem like the guy on the left in the second photo (wearing a hat) probably didn't *arrive* at the park wearing shorts, but rather took scissors to his slacks as the day got warmer? It's a rather strange ensemble.

I've had enough of your raunchy and extremely racist photos. If you can't use some discretion as to what you post on this blog, then I'm going to remove you from my favorites list IMMEDIATELY.

I have a feeling that the person who shot this may have had their own snack bar or hamburger stand and was just gathering information on how “Disney did it”. And why not? Disney was known for innovation and dealing with huge amounts of people. Little did the photographer know that Disneyland fans of the future would get a nostalgic kick out of such detailed shots. What a treat for us.

Ironic about that Pepsi font- their tagline around that time was "Think Modern- have a Pepsi."

The people are fascinating. Agusta Gloop, the girl with ruby slippers, the two guys in twin blue checked shirts. Simply fascinating.
