Band on the Mark Twain, October 1972

The Mark Twain is almost as fun to watch as it is to ride. But when you throw in the added bonus of having the Disneyland Band performing out on the bow.... score! Years ago I was already on the top tier (where I belong!) when the band boarded and took its place below. What a treat!

Does this occur several times a day? I've forgotten if the regular narration was shut off so that the band could play uninterrupted.

I propose that the Disneyland Band be replaced by the latest popular "boy band", that would be super awesome. This is a brilliant idea, and you can all thank me later.

Major-

A 'boy band', you say-??!! Hmmm. Now I'm getting very worried about you. "Vesey Walker & the Funky Bunch". Oh dear.

Apparently you have been up all night doing some cosmic bowling or something....please get some sleep and you will be okay in the morning!!

Great pictures today :-)

As long as it' not the next pre-meltdown Disney teen girl pop star, I can probably live with it.

Comments read completely, check. Band observed in photos, check. I'm getting the hang of this! Humming, "the wheels on the boat go round and round, round and round"...

I wonder how many degrees the Mark Twain pitched forward whenever the band played, with all those bodies crowded toward the bow gazing down at them? I suppose the band would abandon ship if they started taking on water...

Nanook, someday you will be bragging that you were there when Boys 2 Men performed on the Mark Twain.

Nancy, I would like to try cosmic bowling, whatever that is!

Chuck says "Go for it!". This is gonna happen, guys.

Gnometrek (is that an exercise machine for gnomes?), I am humming a song by N'sync.

Tom, luckily, the water is only four feet deep (or so I have read).

K. Martinez, I know; great ideas like this only come along once or twice in a lifetime.

I can't remember riding the Mark Twain with the band, but it would be a real experience, I'm sure.

The bow seems made for the concert.

Boy bands only if we are promised that the indians attack.

I'm with JG - just think of the excitement when a tribe of indians attack a boy band-! Especially while their guard is down during a "performance" - such as it is.

Wonderful photos! Thanks for a great selection.

About the "boy band," yes, an Indian attack would certainly 'pep up' the proceedings.

Perhaps one member of the aforementioned, somewhat pampered, boy band could be heard to say after the (rather mild) attack:
"He pushed me down, and he pushed me real hard. It was a real assault." (to quote Floyd Lawson after Barney's fake barbershop hold up).

Cosmic bowling is a thing that a bowling alley here near me has, you stay up and bowl all night, they do black lights and strobes with music, its pretty cool!! :-D

No, but should they begin to play Nearer My God to Thee, go aft.

JG, I just got lucky that one time... it'll probably never happen again.

Nanook, I don't get why you don't like boy bands. They are so talented and sing REAL songs, not that rock and roll garbage that hoodlums enjoy.

Clyde, I swear I was wondering where you were going with that "He pushed me down..." stuff. I am impressed that you know Floyd the barber's last name!!

Nancy, oh now I know what you mean. I used to love bowling, but haven't gone in forever. I'd love to try the black light thing though.

Chiana, I thought that was only done in case of ice bergs?
