Frontierland Rivercraft, 1960

There's no shortage of photos of the "Columbia" sailing ship or the "Bertha Mae" keel boat, but today's examples are pretty nice.

See what I mean? Of course the blue cloudless sky adds to the effect, and I like the raft to Tom Sawyer's Island too.

Old Bertha appears to be out of commission in this picture; there's no sign of life aboard, and it looks like it's just sittin' there. Even if the Keel Boats weren't in use, it would be nice if they were tied up on the island; they lend plenty of atmosphere even when they're not moving.

A stunning day. I say that it was windy...perhpas a Santa Ana...there are no buckets running in the background on the first pic.

Apparently, Mike Fink is the new settler of the non-burning cabin (in other words, they're tying it up in front of it!). The boat is backstage now get the hull resealed, hopefully it looks real spiffy when it come back!

Wow, what a strange coincidence that Al Lutz would post his article the same day that I am posting this blog entry. I definitely love the idea of the Keel Boat at least looking like a boat that somebody might hop into at any moment.

Nice post Major, Nice Timing too. I heard that same thing about the Gullywhomper today, but not from "Al", I heard it from a much more reliable source - check your email...

What an interesting image of the Bertha Mae. Left all alone and empty at the raft dock. In fact, the whole island looks pretty lonely. A perfect day for exploring!

Beautiful shot of the Columbia. How I wish they would run her "under sail" like that again.

I like both of these, Maj. Neat and purty.

The Tom Sawyer treehouse may be an awkward warmup for that Swiss Family, you know the Robinsons, but the little treehouse itself sure looks real enough from here.
