Cool Random Stuff (1300th post)

Hey hey! It's my 1300th post. Huzzah for me! But I'm keeping it real, homies. We'll make a bigger deal out of it when (if) I reach my 1500th post. OK? Meanwhile I do have a few nicer-than-average images for you. Because I care.

Check out this beauty from 1957 featuring the short-lived Stagecoach... you can almost feel the warmth of the sunshine, hear the clip-clop of the horse's hooves, and smell the Brylcreem on the guy standing behind you.

Just one of the many interesting sights you might have seen from the Disneyland and Santa Fe Railroad (circa 1962) is this brief glimpse of the Painted Desert and little Mine Train. The passengers are all wet thanks to that geyser and a stiff breeze!

Here's a splendiferous photo of the Astro Jets (from September 1961). I just love the look of this ride, with those stumpy li'l rockets and their cheerful red, white and blue paint scheme. I guess the Tomorrowland Autopia is out of commission today, it looks so lonely and deserted.

Thanks for sticking with me, folks!

Contrats on 1300, here's to 1300 MORE!!!!

All gems today, but the Astro Jets pic really catches my eye - splendiferous for sure! Nice Storybook Land poster as well.

That Painted Desert shot is fantastic. It caught the guests during a geyser eruption and you can see them smiling. There also appear to be guests riding in the engine, a privilege I once had as a kid. Thank you unknown cast member! And thanks Major for 1300 happy trips back in time.

So cool...so very, very cool. Love seeing things that I know I saw and experienced as a kid but was too young to remember, if that makes any sense!

Congrats Major! These are splendid, every one of 'em.

The stagecoach pic - wow. Beautiful warm color! Classic Brylcreem scent! And I think that's Old Spice from the bearded coach driver. Or the horsies. The one sticking his tongue out at us of course. His sidekick is just watching our reaction.

Great crowd reaction in the Mine Train Geyser pic. Just a hint of a spray was enough. Do you think it'd work today? Or do ya have to baptize them bodily under water to get a reaction? Cute, the guy movin' on his girlfriend, who's really milking this.

I didn't know they let peeps ride in the engine cab. Cool.

The Richfield Eagle is painted fancier than I'd thought. Cute old gas pump. There's Monstro smiling for his Storybookland poster. Classic c1960 peeps. What's that word on the side of the rocket thingy though? Arcturus?

Such a fine looking passel of pictures! Beautiful composition and color! Thanks for the conspicuous effort you put into this website.

I declare you to be in a three-way tie for first place in the category of "humor on the internet" between yourself, Shorpy, and Lileks.

Congratulations Major another Milestone! That's pretty cool, 1300, WOW!

Sticking with you is not just an action, it is a commitment that's gauranteed.

Oh yeah, killer Astro Jets pic. Thanks Major, all is appreciated, Richard.

Yes Chiana, you could ride in the engine but it was at the discretion of the cast member.
