New Orleans Square, 1966

I've suddenly realized that I don't have many photos featuring New Orleans Square, which is surprising considering its beauty and the fact that it contains two of the most popular attractions of all time. You know the ones I mean!

But this one (circa 1966) is nice. There's plenty of clean cut (yet groovy) young folks making the scene, wearing the latest fashions. If only I could go back in time and warn them that the hippies were coming!

Great view of one of my favorite areas of the park - fantastic color, too!

That is a really nice shot. I realize that some New Orleans street signs are still there, but I don't remember seeing "Esplanade" as one of them. Anybody know if that's still there? Or if they removed them when they built a bridge through the esplanade?

WOW, this looks like a publicity still for a "mod" 1960's clothing manufacturer! Great composition & color. Those folks are just toooo cool for me... Thanks!

Very nice early image of New Orleans Square. I dig the mod style but it has never quite fit me. The Mod style requires a nice tall lean look like the two guys in the right corner.

To answer my own question (via a photograph I took in 2000), the lamppost in the foreground is gone entirely, and the one in the background no longer sports the street names.

I believe a number of the people in this photo escaped from a Josh Agle painting.
