A Day at Disneyland
It's been a while since I've been able to visit The Happiest Place on Earth. Between work, blogging, and my night job as a crime-fighting ninja, there's just not a lot of time left for the stuff I love to do for fun.
However, I was able to go a few weeks ago. Whoo-hoo! The weather was beautiful, and crowds were light. I took only a few photos (I'm terrible that way), but this one taken of the Rivers of America came out pretty nice. It really sums up "a typical day at Disneyland" for me, and what could be better than that?
There seemed to be more river traffic than usual, but other than that there's nothing much of note. Except that it's a beauty! So... I thought I would share it with you. Enjoy!

This must have been what Walt saw when he said to Dick Nunis, "Now THAT's a busy river"--right before saying they needed another big boat.
OMG this is HYSTERICAL!!! The toppers are the miniature canoe full of itty-bitty people, and Henry in the back of the "look Ma, no hands!" Motorboat -- classic!!
Would it be possible to post a larger version so we can explore the details?
Awesome job, right down to the reflection of the Matterhorn in the water.
:D
I believe the canoe ride is the row your own adventure through inner space!
Great job of putting all the elements together. Reminds me of some of the pictures that used to be done for Backstage Disneyland.
ahhhhh, ahhhhhhh, hummmmmm. ahhhhhhh! i need another cup of coffee.
Actually, the Nautilus in the river isn't a bad idea... ^_^
I think I was there that day too! I must be just off to the left of your photo! Hey if you only took a few pics that day, at least you got a great shot!
Things have changed so much at Disneyland since I first went in 1957. But of all the changes that have taken place... I wish they would bring back the old subs.
And a happy April 1st to you too, Major!
And thanks! This is great!
The builders of Disneyland only wished they were brilliant enough to run an Alice caterpillar on the Mine Train track. Also, the intersection of the Phantom Boats, Henry and Jose is a summit I'd like to see actualized!
Beautiful!

Wow, what a fun pic!
Maybe you should pitch a "What doesn't belong?" type book to Disney! (i'm actually serious - hey, those "Where in Disneyland?" people did two books!)
I LOVE IT! But can we get a larger version so we can explore all the details and hidden attractions?
I SO remember when the Astro Jets were free flying. Going round and round gets you nowhere.
Thanks for the nice comments everybody, but what are you talking about? This is just a photo I took the other day, I swear!
I would have loved to have the Nautilus swimming around the DL lagon, but sadly no. Is that the dead - erm drunken settler passed out to the right of the totem? And are those the Pirate Ship Restaurant's sails silhouetted against Space Mountain? Marvellous!
Must be the "short version" of the guided tour!
Not counting the things in the basic picture (Mark Twain, dock, Tom Sawyer Island stuff) , I count 30 things that shouldn’t be there. I won’t tell you what they are. I don’t want to spoil everyone’s fun.
I love the two hippos!
Well done Major.
Ooops! Make that 31!
Major, you rock! Too funny! Happy April Fool's and Peace Day to you, too! :D
Well I guess I can stop looking for the perfect desktop wallpaper now. If you don't mind, that's a keeper! Thanks Major
I like the flying saucer getting ready to mow down the Lillyputians rowing the miniature canoe. Monstro freaks me out though...
Awsome post!
:)
OK Major, since you asked for it, here's my list. Upon closer inspection I find 28 added objects:
Spaceman
Toy Solider - Small World
Flying Saucer
Tiny canoe
Bear with fish – Train Through Nature's Wonderland
Mermaids
Nautilus
Hippo - Small World
Hippo - Jungle Cruise
Motor Boat
Jose the bird, Tiki Room
Henry the Bear - Country Bear Jamboree
Dead settler
Totem Pole – (? Don’t know location of this one)
Space Mountain
Monstro - Story Book Land Canal Boats
Alice in Wonderland ride vehicle
Friendly Indian
Snow White statue
House of the Future
Monorail
Matterhorn
Skull Rock
Happy Elephant - Jungle Cruise
Wooden Indian - Main Street
TWA Rocket
Dumbo Flying Elephant
Rocket Jet
Just saw the Golden Horseshoe in there. Ha! Missed it because it looked like a building from Rainbow Ridge.
also horse and Indian from Tom Swayer's island mine train on top of Mark Twain. Jungle cruise crossed spears appear on the Mark Twain loading building. Also a penguin on the roof. Chicken in the Sea Pirate ship. You said it but didn't count Rainbow ridge. also appears a cowboy next to white light pole.
Sundaynight, you did great. Some people might count the mermaids as 2, but I count them as 1, so the official answer is 29. Your list was lacking the matterhorn bobsled (just below and to the right of the Alice caterpillar vehicle). I didn't add the Golden Horseshoe, maybe you are seeing the Mineral Hall?
Anonymous, I didn't add the crossed spears or a penguin on the roof, though I see what you mean, it does kind of look like that. The Chicken of the Sea pirate ship is there, but it was really there in the original photo, so no monkey business was involved! And I see the "cowboy" next to the white pole, but I didn't put him there!
I must have been looking at a Rainbow Ridge building. I didn't count the bobsled because it was near the Matterhorn but since it looks to be on the train track I should have counted it.
I really enjoyed the challenge.
