Boring Pictures, September 1959
That's right folks, I admit that today's photos are not especially exciting. But I had to use them some time!
When I go to Disneyland and decide to stop for a meal, the restaurants never look like this. Empty tables everywhere! The ornamental metal chairs and light fixtures, and polished terrazzo floor add a touch of elegance that is absent at most amusement parks.
Another great thing about Disneyland is that there are plenty of benches for weary guests. If you happen to be full of beans like that little girl, you can opt to dance around even if your parents are relaxing.
And to finish up, how about a look at the back side of water?

NOT boring! Just keep 'em coming, please! That building beyond the umbrellas in the first pic has been torn down...I guess it's been gone for a little while now. You can see a few of the attraction posters that were along the curved wall to the left. It looks like something on the menu (over to the right) was only .10 cents! I wonder if that was for a scoop of ice cream? Make mine a double!
Does look like a nice place to unwind and enjoy something to eat doesn't it?
Note to folks in 2nd pic, the shades ain't workin' for ya. But the little girl looks like a living doll.
Then, mooned by water. Neat trip. ;)
The restaurant photo is a gem – not boring at all!
Isn't that the "Carnation" Plaza Gardens in the first pic? If so, ironically its usually pretty dead over there still, of course there are no food places over there anymore so there's really nothing do unless there is a band playing...
Oh, they still have red & white umbrellas! (link)
Beautiful pictures. As soon as I saw the work BORING, I knew I would like them. I can feel the drops from the waterfall and and smell that smell of the Jungle Cruise from here in Indiana ;)
I happened to be in CA this past August (40th reunion, class of 1969 La Mirada High) and my friend and I ate at the Carnation Plaza - it a little before dusk - we sat at the porch - it was busy but not overcrowded. It was lovely and the food was fine.
We also stopped at the French Market (I think) at had a mint julep around 3 p.m. Very refreshing and such atmosphere as we were right next to the train station there in New Orleans square. Lots of empty tables. I think I have a picture somewhere..
Boring? NEVER! Much better than the family-standing-in-front-of-something-and-therefore-blocking-it photos that I always seem to find!
im with them......nothing about Disneyland is boring for me!! :D
Meh... any old Dispix are never boring to me! I dig em all!
This where I danced to the Elliott Brothers almost every weekend for all the years I worked at Disneyland (1959 to 1965). Getting into the park free, or just staying after work, was a great treat and I'll never forget it.
Boring? No. These are the "quiet moments" that make Disneyland stand head and shoulders above all the competition.
Great pics.
Gosh what a great gig, Cox. :)
CoxPilot, you were definitely there during the "golden years"! I'm jealous.
Vaughn, thanks for the nice comment!
