Two From June 1959

I can't explain why exactly, but I love these photos. I see this elderly lady with her cane, and can imagine her as a rosy-cheeked young woman, full of laughter and mischief. Even though she appears stern as she poses on the bridge into Frontierland, I'll bet she was a lot of fun. Some of the coolest people are old people! And I'll bet she was a good cook too.

There she is again; who knows, maybe her mother came out west on a covered wagon, passing through plains and deserts and Indian country. Maybe not; I'd still like to hear her life story.

Wondefy. :) Wouldn't you just love to spend some time under one of those umbrellas in that top pic? That's actually possible she saw some of that... interesting thought.

Been busy, 'pooter stuff and pretty much off line, but I've been swingin' by to catch every post no fear! And I've enjoyed every one.

She's a covert CIA operative, inserted to spread fear into the hearts of Disneylanders by the virtue of her scowls. Or, perhaps, someone from the Orange County Health Department.

I sort of miss crotchety old women and wonder where they've all gone to. You used to see them all the time, and they played a vital role: terrorizing store clerks, ruling over the nation's elementary schools, basically bringing you back down to earth whenever you might be having too much fun. I suppose now all the potentially crotchety old women are either (1) trying to look like happy, young women, or (2) drugged into pseudo-happiness in nursing homes. It is a loss.

Neat set, she's a dead ringer for my Great-Grandma Mollie, right down to the huge pearls, Naugahyde black purse and too tight fancy shoes! Thanks for the fun look!

i have to say it, Major...the stories you see when you look at these photos are fascinating

thanks for always making it fun!

Gram looks like she is ready for a full day of Disneyland fun, already prepared for a cool evening, perhaps taking in some music or a late-evening cruise aboard the Mark Twain
