Donruss Bubblegum Cards

It's time for more bubblegum cards from the 1965 Donruss set - the scarce "blue backs" (read more about them here). As always, the captions are taken directly from the backs of the cards.

Card #22: "Actual sets used in the making of Walt Disney's '20,000 Leagues Under the Sea' are on display for Tomorrowland visitors".

Card # 23: "Sleeping Beauty's Castle in Disneyland marks entrance to Fantasyland".

Hmmm, something seems to be missing, don't you think?

Ah, that's better!

Card #24: "The Trapped Safari at Disneyland as viewed by Disneyland passengers aboard Jungle Cruise in Adventureland". Did I mention this was at Disneyland?

Card #25: "Visitors aboard Disneyland Mark Twain view life-like Indian Village".

Card #26: "Viewed from Dutch canal boats, Storybook Land features miniature settings from Disney-animated motion pictures".

Card #27: "Mickey Mouse and his dog Pluto take a ride on Disneyland fire engine".

Card #28: "White Rabbit and Mrs. Rabbit on an egg hunt during Disneyland Easter Season".

There's thirty seven more cards to go!

Mrs Rabbit?! Do they have a Mr Potts, too?

Great set today. Wish I'd been around to see the "20,000 Leagues" exhibit. That's a nice eye-level shot of the organ sans ghost or James Mason.

My favorite here has to be the Flower Mart, despite its non-canonical character population. The colors, the composition, the architecture, the hint of Adventureland in the background (the one at Disneyland as viewed by Disneyland passengers aboard Jungle Cruise in Adventureland) with the added extra goodness of Easter eggs (probably left by some beagle from up the road) really make for a visual treat this morning.

I went to Disneyland when the "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" exhibit existed, but I just don't ever remember seeing it. Since I remember going inside House of the Future, I probably didn't actually go inside the 20,000 League exhibit.

The Easter Sunday at the Flower Mart card is great. Not often you see White Rabbit at the Park. Looking forward to the other 37 cards. Thanks, Major

That's the best interior shot I've ever seen of the 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea set exhibit. And the ONLY shot I've seen of Mrs. White Rabbit! I guess if the stereotypes are true, she's been busy raising their many offspring.

Honest John and Goofy don't seem to mind not being mentioned along with Mickey and Pluto. Well, being a firefighter's not about the glory, kids, it's about saving lives and getting the job done. That, and meeting cute girl Dalmations.

Those are really neat! Particularly love the 20,000 interior one.

Chuck, I have always wondered what happened to Mrs. Toad, since Mister Toad seems a bit unstable. My brother claims that we saw the 20K walk-thru, but I think he is mistaken. I'm surprised that your favorite is the Flower Mart; I like Mr. & Mrs. White Rabbit, but the mart itself just doesn't excite me much.

K. Martinez, I guess if my brother is right about going to the 20K walk-thru, maybe we saw the Monsanto house as well!

Melissa, it is a good one for sure. I think I've seen other pictures of Mrs. White Rabbit. The funny thing is, sometimes when you see the White Rabbit he has long eyelashes, and sometimes not. I think they just used the heads interchangeably and adorned them as needed.

DKoren, any look at the 20K attraction is definitely welcome.

Is that a whole lot of eerie fog rolling out of Sleeping Beauty castle, or just moving guests taken with a really long exposure?

Still... great image. I always love twilight shots of the castle. Never been able to pull one off myself, though... Probably ought to use a tripod some time.

Tom - That picture was probably taken the evening the "Elizabeth Dane" mysteriously appeared in Fowler's Harbor.
