Matterhorn Climbers, August 1961

Holy smokes! There's an escaped gorilla on top of the Matterhorn! Quick Gladys, take a picture! Boy, the fellas back home will never believe this. We'll probably win the Pulitzer Prize and get to meet President Kennedy and Jackie.

While we're waiting for all of that excitement, let's go eat in the air conditioned Red Wagon Inn!

What a minute; are there TWO gorillas? And are they wearing red shirts and Tyrolean hats? This just keeps getting weirder and weirder.

Oh, Major-

Didn't you know that gorillas are native to the Alps, and specifically the Matterhorn-? Why just last week I hear tell of a terrific knock-down, drag-out between a gorilla and an Ibex. (I think all the Ibex at Disneyland were allowed to run free in Nature's Wonderland, so's to keep the fightin' to a minimum).

Thanks, Major.

Awesome shots. Very dimensional. They'd make great ViewMaster reel images. Especially the one with the Avenue of Flags in the foreground. The Matterhorn just wouldn't be the same without its climbers and gorillas. Thanks, Major.
