Amid the vast Gorillas Don't Blog archives (housed in a salt mine in Utah), there are many views of the subs. But this is the only view of it's kind that I have. Where was it taken from? The Skyway Chalet? The wooden railing at the bottom should be a clue. Anyway, there's the Ethan Allen sailing past. Ethan Allen was an American revolutionary who is famous for his furniture stores.
Damn those hairdos! There is an exciting holdup (or something) going on in front of Casa de Fritos. There's a man in black, looking like he's up to no good. A swarthy man with a white hat is holding a bag that certainly contains money...probably Disneyland's gross receipts for the day. But if there's anything else interesting going on, we can't see it. Frustrating!

Shot #2: Photographic evidence of why aerosols were banned!
The first shot must have been taken from the Skyway using a zoom lens. Or possibly from the Matterhorn but that moves too fast for zoom I would say...
The sub photograph was taken from the monorail as it sweeps across the lagoon. The Ethan Allen has just completed its adventure and is returning to the dock. The 'wood railing' is the corner of the deck around the holding pen that subs back into.
Note that the passenger train is still in use and this is pre-People Mover.
Re: hairdo pic...What a funny shot. I can just hear the guy who took it saying “that woman moved right when I pressed the shutter. Dang!” Of course in those pre-digital days he probably didn't realize the mistake until he got the slides back from Thriftymart. Some of the spectators seem to be looking up. Watching one of the bad guys fall off the roof of the Golden Horseshoe?
