Cypress Gardens, Florida

Let's take a trip to sunny Winter Haven, Florida (about 30 miles south of Orlando) for a visit to Cypress Gardens! World-famous for their water ski shows, lush gardens, and lovely Southern Belles, Cypress Gardens was a popular tourist destination for over 50 years.

There is nothing wrong with this first picture! One of the lovely gals poses with her skis... she is both wholesome and sexy. She reminds me of the pinups from the 1940's. Just think, she is somebody's grandma now!

It's hard to believe, but even Florida gets cold in the winter. So Cypress Gardens, which was open all year, was a different experience! No bare-shouldered babes - instead you get sweater-wearin' sweethearts. They are still adorable though, and isn't that what is truly important?

This last one is a repeat, but I wanted to leave you with some pretty women and sunshine.

Cypress Gardens in January is a welcome sight without a playoff game today...

First pic - great swimsuit!
Second pic - got the royal wave going.
Third pic - great silhouette chokers.

Cypress Gardens always comes to mind when I think of Cinerama; as extensive footage from its water-inspired offerings were featured in "This is Cinerama". Probably more than a coincidence that Garden's owner Dick Pope and Fred Waller - inventor of Cinerama - were good friends. Oh, and did I mention, speaking of inventions, it was Fred Waller who also coincidentally invented the water ski-? I thought not.

Now, let's get put on that water.

Bill, isn't it funny how a relatively modest swimsuit can still look so great?

Nanook, I guess I need to see "This is Cinerama"... all I've ver seen is a clip on a roller coaster. So wait, the water ski wasn't around until the 30's or 40's?

Melissa, now that I think about it, the dresses are always solid colors. What is with the circus stripes?

Anonymous, better Lego Land than a strip mall or condominiums....

I kinda got it wrong about the water ski. Waller is often credited with the invention, but he merely patented it - in 1925. The invention really goes to Ralph Samuelson, in June, 1922.
