Vintage Cars

I enjoy finding vintage photos of automobiles, even though I famously know very little about the cars themselves. They are industrial works of art! Stylish, and sometimes even exuberant. Today's examples have me stumped, I tried to ID them, but had no luck. I know that YOU guys will figure them out, though!

First up, a little kid poses in front of a coppery beauty, with classy white-walls and plenty of chrome. The photo is dated "May 1961". I think the child is a girl, with the pink coat and the stuffed bunny. Maybe she caught the bun-bun with her bow and arrow!

Next is more of an overall "look at all them dang cars" picture, from the 1950s. The beautiful Wisconsin Dells are still a popular tourist destination, though you won't see so many American autos there today.

And here's another unlabeled, undated photo of two boys posing in front of a two-tone (red and white) beauty on a Winter day. Whoever can identify that car will win the fair hand of my daughter, Griselda! Terms and conditions apply.

I'm still infiltrating the spy network of an evil villain (as opposed to a nice villain), but will be home soon!

Major-
Both the 1st and 3rd images feature the 1956 Chevrolet - the 1st image possibly in Navajo Tan; and the 3rd image probably in Matador Red with an India Ivory roof.

In the 2nd image, the closest vehicle is a 1950 Ford. Can't decipher the 2nd vehicle; the 3rd vehicle is a 1947 Chevrolet; and the medium green beauty is [most-likely] a 1950 Buick. And the brown car could be a 1950 Plymouth.

Thanks, Major - and happy motoring-!

The second one looks like it was taken on a Christmas tree lot. We can see the cut trees, and what looks like maybe a metal stand. I tried changing the contrast to see if we could read that cardboard sing, but no luck.

Thanks, Major!

Where are the bunny's ears? I suppose they're hanging down the back of its head. Or maybe Miss Sure-Shot sliced off the ears as a hunting trophy. Or maybe this isn't a bunny at all; maybe it's a fur seal... or an albino otter... Otto the albino otter. (A Disney "True-Life Adventure".) Are those g-g-g-ghosts in those two windows above the garage? Oh yeah, there's a car in the picture as well.

Shiny, shiny chrome! And LOTS of it! All those elaborate chrome grills must have been an inspiration to orthodontists everywhere!

The older brother looks like a thoroughly cool dude. He even has a white belt! Younger brother's leather jacket has seen a lot of wear and tear. Probably a hand-me-down from previous generations. I tried to read that cardboard (or plywood?) sign on the right... but nope... I think it starts with a "B" though. That's a cute little bungalow on the left.

Tokyo!, I didn't notice the cut Christmas trees! I did see the tree stand on that pedestal, but I couldn't figure out what it was. I see now that there are cut tree limbs piled around that sign. If I'm right about the sign starting with a "B", maybe it says "Boughs" [something]?

Thanks for the vintage pics, Major. While you're in the evil villain's underground lair, stay away from any table that has restraining straps and industrial lasers aimed at it.

Okay, I'm really messing up today! Of course, I meant the third pic, when referring to all of the cut trees!

Major. While you're in the evil villain's underground lair, stay away from any table that has restraining straps and industrial lasers aimed at it.

JB, don't forget the pool of piranhas!

MAJOR PEPPERIDGE: (Strapped to a table, industrial laser bean inching towards his, er, personal space) Do you expect me to talk?

AURIC MOLDFINGER: No, Major Pepperidge - I expect you to die.

TM!, man, I hope he has several months' worth of blogs already written and programmed to publish...

Come for the pictures, stay for the comments.

A GDB object lesson in making mundane photos funny, or at least interesting.

Photo 2 with all the cars in a row is pretty great. I have a hard time today in parking lots, finding my vehicle among all the other white SUVs. But photo 3 is the winner, brothers or maybe cousins picking out a Christmas tree with their new car.

Major, don’t forget, the underground lairs of most evil villains have air ducts big enough to crawl through. When I am galactic overlord, I will correct this oversight, but for now, it’s probably a good chance to escape.

Also don't forget to peek out through the windows of the Fort Knox model.

Thanks, JonniGreen. I had no idea that Panama adopted Law No. 32 back in 1927.
