HAPPY BIRTHDAY to our friend MRaymond!
You know the drill on Sundays... it's when I use up scans that might otherwise go unshared. I'm still not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing!
This one isn't even that bad, really. As always, I love the look of "Old Fantasyland". I told Walt he should just paint everything purple, pink, and blue, and use plenty of gold highlights, but he wouldn't listen. The two girls in the teacups appear to be saying a prayer. "Please don't let me lose my lunch", probably. And I only noticed because our friend Andrew pointed this out many months ago, but you can sort of see the Mr. Toad mural, especially the train headlight.
You and I (and David Lee Roth) all know that this photo shows a lady about to walk down a spiral staircase into a genuine submarine. Even though it looks like she is bowing to Queen Elizabeth, who is actually just out of frame to our right. "It's an honor to meet you, your Majesty". "Right back atcha!".

As you noted, everyone seems to have their heads bowed in these two images. Maybe they're all really reverent. Disneyland can do that to a person.

That lady obviously doesn't know that the proper way to meet the Queen is to walk right up to her, slip her the grip, and say, "Hiya Queen!"
Of course, you can always just call her, "Mrs. Mountbatten." Either one is acceptable.
Actually, in the first pic we have The Evil Twins pouring over their plans to take over Fantasyland...and eventually ALL of Disneyland!!! Bwahahahahaha!
Fortunately they were so dizzy after the ride they settled on taking over a booth at the Howard Johnsons. And thus was Walt's Dream saved. Amen.
TokyoMagic, the proper way to address the queen is "Queenie Baby!" The slap on her backside is optional, but shows a bit of added respect. Try it the next time you're boppin' around Buckingham Palace!
You learn so much on this blog but, really, you just respectfully say 'Yo'.
I thought twins too, but certainly sisters. Just watching I feel a bit queasy.

Nothing like being grateful for a cuppa before riding the royal submarine.
Both have the prized “you-are-there” quality, I feel like it is my turn next for both rides.

This post goes perfectly with yesterdays "I hate spinners" post. The teacups are the ultimate "Corn Dog and Churro launchers". I've only been on the teacups a few times and I kept my hands off the wheel.
Also, per Andrews request, today is my Birthday.

Pic #1 goes with my comment yesterday about my, ahem, bad experience on the teacups as a 7 year old kid. Fortunately I didn't make a mess in the cup, it hit me as I exited the ride. I guess the positive is I got to experience the Disneyland medical station where my parents took me. A few minutes on a cot and some hydration and I was good to go. After that I always kept a safe distance from that evil ride. :D
Pic #2, I was actually part if the Queen's entourage that day. Roaming the park she said "Where can a girl get a drink around here?". I said the Monorail Bar at the Hotel is the spot. So we jumped aboard the Monorail, got off at the Hotel and slipped into the bar. The Queen slammed back a few shots of Jack (her favorite), got back on the Monorail and back to the Park.
As we pulled into the station she slurred "OH, I wanna ride the Submarine next!".
Boarding the sub is when things went wrong. The lady in the photo is looking down saying "Guys, the Queen fell down".
I ran over and looked down. The Queen was sprawled at the bottom of the stairs giggling loudly saying "Wow! That was a fun ride!".
She was all pomp and circumstance until she had a few drinks. After that she became the life of the party. :)

The teacups are making the curly-haired lady so dizzy that we're seeing her double. That's a good trick!
I read a story recently about the cast of The Empire Strikes Back meeting Princess Margaret. Billy Dee Williams convinced Mark Hamill that you weren't allowed to look directly at a member of the Royal Family, so he kept his eyes on the floor while shaking the Princess's hand.
Nanook, now that you mention it, maybe these photos were taken on a Sunday!

Stu29573, I’m trying to figure out how the Evil Twins are going to take over Fantasyland by riding the Teacups, but I guess I’m not evil enough to understand their horrible plans. “Something something GLORIOUS VICTORY”! Aw poor QE… I have mixed feelings about the Royals. She seems like a nice lady, but who knows, maybe she’s cruel and mean.

MRaymond, I once spun our teacup so fast that my date was mad at me afterwards. She never asked me to stop, so I figured it was OK! I guess I should be grateful that I don’t seem to suffer from motion sickness, it must be a real bummer to get nauseous on a ride. Thanks for the birthday info, I’ve made a note of it (and updated the post)!

zach, I had to check to see if I had your birthday. March 18th! Hey, I can’t keep all this stuff in my head.
Grant, ha ha, when you said “it hit me”, I first thought that you meant that somebody else’s barf hit you. I know many people avoid specific rides when they go to the park. I have a good friend who avoids all of the roller coasters, even though they are some of the most fun and popular attractions. Wow, you had quite the experience with Queen Elizabeth! I had no idea she was so “earthy”. When you see her on TV she’s always so proper. Does she like a good rude joke? Or would she shake her head in disapproval? I hope you and the Queen have stayed in touch, maybe you can crash on her sofa the next time you are in England.

All this bowing, diabolical planning and praying to the gods. It may be a much more simple answer. It was either scoliosis or Ankylosing spondylitis awareness day. Mick Mars (buddy of David Lee Roth) suffers from the latter. Some (or many) of the guests suffering from these spinal conditions were in the park that day hence their pockets were full of lost coins spotted while looking down.
Just chuck those worthless brit coins dropped by her majesty, they slide right through the vending machines like a lead slug.

Alonzo, “Ankylosing spondylitis” sounds pretty nasty, whatever it is. I don’t want it. Hey, I used to work with David Lee Roth’s sister! She wouldn’t remember me if her life depended on it. She was nice. Poor QE, I didn’t mean for her to be the butt of so many jokes. But… she can cry on her billions of dollars and Vermeers.
