OK But Blurry, January 1969
I have a small group of slides from 1969, and they might have ordinarily been perfectly OK... nothing great, but acceptable. BUT... nearly all of them are blurry. Which makes them useful for a "Snoozer Sunday", I guess.
This nice lady with the cool shades is enjoying a ride on the Storybook Land Canal Boats, and her sweetie wanted to capture the moment. Well, he did a terrible job and should go to jail!
What could be more charming than the mechanical clock in front of "it's a small world"? Nothing! But a blurry photo kind of ruins it.
This is probably the best one of the bunch, with five friends (or are they family?) posing in front of the turnstiles. It's January, so the sun is already well on its way down even though it's not even 2 o'clock (if the clock on Main Street Station can be believed). The girl in red is carrying a souvenir wall map.
Somewhere in Frontierland, a group of silhouettes stops for lunch.
And one more blurry photo, with the nice lady posing in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle. She and her boyfriend must have been disappointed with their flawed pictures when they got them back from the Photomat; maybe that's why they wound up on eBay 50 years later!

Yes, it does appear that couple ended up with a camera that shoots everything out-of-focus. (I hope they didn't pay a premium for that feature). And the camera used on the dining 'quartet' must be equipped with the special 'witness protection mode' feature.

These must have been taken on different days, since the people's clothes are different in some of the photos. Speaking of clothes, in the fourth pic, the guy sitting second from the right, is wearing a see-through shirt. And the woman to the left of him is still holding her large DL wall map, but now she has it open.
Let me just look at these without my glasses...

Finally, photos that look more like mine. I guess I got one of the fancy 'BlurVision'™ models, too.
I really like the jaunty little hat on the far left silhouette.
In the castle pic there are two women walking toward the 'Lady in Red' with the yellow flowers. They look side by side but they are such different sizes. Is this another feature on that fancy camera?

Nanook, I do have to wonder if it was the camera that was the problem, or if it was the photographer. My guess is the latter. It really IS strange how all of the faces have been rendered unrecognizable in that portrait.

TokyoMagic!, ah good point. Although I wonder why they are still carrying that big souvenir map around on a different day. Maybe somebody bought another one? I’ve always thought that those see-through shirts for men are very odd.

zach, I once took a photo of a friend who was posing with a famous person who she loved (we just happened upon this person in a bookstore), and I felt bad because the photo turned out a little blurry. My friend was mad at me for a long time! “Jaunty little hat”, ha ha! And boy, there really IS a contrast in sizes in those two women. One must be very petite, while the other is taller than average.

The photos remind me of the many Sunday mornings I myself have been fuzzy and out of focus.

"... still holding her large DL wall map, but now she has it open". I thought that was the whole point of buying a 'wall map' of Disneyland - to use it as one would like a gas station road map, while inside the park. No, you say-?? Oh well.

Lou and Sue, by the way, do you happen to know what kind of camera Lou DID use? Or did he have a whole arsenal of cameras?

Just recently I asked him what was his first camera and, without hesitation, he said his first, as a teen, was an Argus C3 film camera. Then he had an Argus C4...then a C44... (I think he remembers more about his cameras than he does about me). But I only remember him using Leica and Hasselblad cameras. Leica's were his favorite.
And, Major, thanks for pointing-out that one "behind the thingy"...I almost missed that one.
We just got back from going to a butterfly "farm," for the first time, this afternoon. I loved it. Butterflies flying all around and landing on you. I hope everyone else is having a nice Sunday, too!
Lou and Sue, I don't know much about Argus cameras, but I do know that Leicas and Hasselblads are considered VERY good (and expensive) cameras. Nothing but the best for Lou! I'm happy to help out with the fringes. I've never been to a butterfly farm, but I went to the American Museum of Natural History in NYC, and they had a special butterfly exhibit. We were there in the dead of winter, but that exhibit was warm and humid. As you said, butterflies were flitting around and landing on people. Some employees were holding orange slices, and butterflies would land and you could see their coiled tongues slurping up the sweet juice. It was neat!
Main Gate ticket taker in pic #3 looks quite smart in his Disneyland Gold jacket and tie with Disneyland patch. These costumes later turned to a plum and white ensemble in easy care polyester...and yes, I also had my time at the gate, but as a seller- before credit cards...all cash...or Travelers Checks, or Personal Checks...or foreign currency...everything was good....except plastic! Times have certainly changed. Green and yellow dress in pic #4 is certainly upstaging everyone...very bold choice! I like the simplicity of the Castle with simple banners and soothing colors! Calgon take me away!
Yesterday was a travel day for me, so here is a late comment.
Sad blurry pictures, but they look fine with my glasses off.
The group wanted silhouettes from Main Street shop, but settled for that Frontierland shot instead.
