Dumbo and Teacups, 1957

Dumbo's Flying Elephants has been a popular attraction since it opened, resulting in surprisingly long lines on busy days. Waiting an hour to ride this humble spinner is out of the question for me, so I propose that they enlarge the diameter of the ride to half a mile, allowing the addition of 400 additional elephants. You're welcome, Disney! You can see the hinged ear that briefly allowed Dumbo to flap his ears.

Most of you have heard about Snow White's Scary Adventure, in which the rider was supposed to BE Snow White. Well, in the Mad Tea Party, the rider is supposed to be tea. So there.

Major-

I wonder if the girls in the first pic are twins-?? Although they don't appear to be dressed alike.

And touché about the Tea Party-! Let's see, should I be Oolong or Darjeeling. Or perhaps Jasmine Yin Hao. Or merely the more common Earl Grey-? Let me steep on that one.

Nanook, it's hard to say, though they do look pretty similar. I'm trying to remember if there are other pictures of these two together, but I don't think there are. As for tea, I would be Lipton pre-sweetened tea in a bottle because I have no class! ;-)

But isn't that Joe in the green cup?

K. Martinez, "Cuppa Joe", yep that's him!

Welcome home, Major!

I can hear it now:

CM: Welcome to the Mad Tea Party, Ma'am.
Guest: So, where's the tea?
CM: I believe you're supposed to be the tea, Ma'am.
Guest: I'M the tea, young man? Are you calling me an old bag?
CM: No, Ma'am, but if you don’t like it, you could leave.
Guest: Leave? At these prices?
CM: It's true, admission is pretty steep.
Guest: And after waiting in line all afternoon?
CM: I'm sorry, Ma'am; I hope you didn't wait toolong. But the ride is nice and cozy.
Guest: I still don't understand how I'm the tea.
CM: Well, you do seem a little bitter.
Guest: And steaming! *hits CM over head with purse and boards ride*
CM: *feels head* Two lumps!

Under Melissa's tutelage, I feel confident Disneyland could put an entirely new spin on the Mad Tea Party-!

With all this talk about tea, I think I may just have to brew me a cup right about now. And I think it'll be Silver Needle White. Honest.

Melissa is the Queen of Puns! I think Wally Boag would be proud of you.

Nanook, "Silver Needle White", are you sure that's not heroin??!?!

Oh - my, my Major. Just where is this story heading-??!! I never thought of it in those terms, but I suppose it does have a ring of the 'drug trade' about it. As for me, it's merely the most popular beverage, behind water.

Nanook, now everyone knows about my hardcore druggie past! I like tea OK, though I mostly drink it when I have a sore throat.

I can never make a cup of tea without hearing Mr. Banks singing, "Plantations of ripening teeeeeeeeea!" from Mary Poppins in my head.
