Random Scenes, June 1969
Here are some very typical (boring?) photos from a small bunch from the summer of 1968. These people could have been in the movie theater watching John Wayne's "True Grit", but they were frightened by his eye patch.
The castle. It's pointy. And it is haunted by the ghost of Paul Lynde. He looks exactly the same as when he played "Dr. Dudley" in "The Munsters".
This would have been a nice picture of the Columbia except that 1/3 of the photo is slurry-coated pavement. Notice the mysterious "Man in White", with his toolbox full of syringes.
"Dutch angles" are used in films when a director wants to impart a feeling of disorientation or unease. Of course I feel disoriented all the time, so this photo makes me feel right at home. New Orleans Square is definitely the least-represented land in all of my Disneyland photo collection, so I'm always happy to include a picture of it, even a wonky example.

I have to wonder what the photographer was aiming at in pics 2 and 3. Point and shoot requires pointing first, these results imply impatience.
I'm mostly struck by the amount of ivy on the castle walls. A little is fine, but this is clearly out of control, and probably doing a lot of damage.
hehe clearly the shutterbug just staggered out from the Pirates and hasn't got his land legs back!

#1... actually, it gets points for not being 100% exactly like a million other castle shots. :)

D ticket, I think it's pretty clear that he was going for the Columbia in photo #2, but just wasn't thinking about composition or anything! #3, maybe he just wanted to show the quaint streets of New Orleans Square? I don't think the group of people was with him, based on the other photos in the bunch. And yes, there was a time when the ivy on the castle really was out of control!
Chiana, maybe he had just eaten a big greasy monte cristo sandwich. Urp! #2, I think he was distracted by the old man in the orange/red shirt. As for #1, I will take any points I can get!
I like the ivy on the castle for nostalgic reasons. It reminds me of the "Walt Disney's Disneyland - A Pictorial Souvenir" covers from the 1970s.
I notice two wires behind the castle (non-Skyway). I know one is for Tinkerbell’s decent from the Matterhorn, but what was the other wire for?

Out of control ivy is redundant; out of control is what ivy does. Eradicate wherever present...

What I wouldn't pay to visit a castle haunted by the ghost of Paul Lynde! I'd even brave the wrath of the creepy Uomo in Bianco!
