Fantasyland at Night, June 26, 1966

I loves me some Disneyland at night! But decent vintage photos of the park when it is at its most beautiful are somewhat scarce. Here are two beauties from 1966 that came out great!

You've seen the Chicken of the Sea Pirate Ship umpteen zillion times, but this lovely picture is especially pretty. The sails are partially unfurled, something I prefer compared to having them tightly, um, furled. They have a strange shiny appearance here. The long exposure turned the people in the foreground into ghosts.

Now we'll climb aboard the Pirate Ship and take another beautiful photo featuring the Teacups, King Arthur's Carousel, and Sleeping Beauty's Castle. Peter Pan's Flight (to the right) is surprisingly blazing in this image. Luckily the Teacups were at a standstill, although it might have been cool to see them as a blur!

I will be out of town for the weekend, starting today. But keep checking in, there will be new posts!

Simply stunning pics, Major!

That second pic is reversed if Peter Pan is on the right. I think we can see the exit to Snow White (the Dwarf's mine) on the left side of the castle.

Yes, definitely reversed. The castle towers rise from right to left on the castle forecourt side. No matter, I can flip it myself. Also, you can see the blue Peter Pan banner with reversed lettering.

The photographer must have been a pro or a very talented amateur. Night shots of Disneyland of this caliber are very rare...and a treasure to see. Thanks.

NICE! I pretty much gave up trying night shots at the park, this guy was good! I like the partially unfurled sails too! THANKS!
