Monorail Blue, 1960

I've got a beauty for you today! Check out this wonderful shot of the 3-car blue Monorail as it takes on a new load of passengers. Poor shnooks down below wait for the Submarine Voyage, whilst the cool kids prepared for a smooth, quiet ride into the future.

Look, the Typical American Family has just boarded! They're not in the front though, they're riding in the back.

This photo of the nearby Matterhorn surprised me when I scanned it - see the climbers? Even now they are practically invisible. They're not wearing their traditional red shirts.

look how pretty!! nice detail with those red tail lights and what looks like an upside-down tail fins....

we rode in the cockpit once at WDW at night....it was so weird not seeing anything in front of us, not even the rail!

Nancy is right, I see a 59 Cadillac in there somewhere! Man than monorail is sure does shine!

I think that's a guest climbing the Matterhorn, he's looking for the famed basketball court at the top.

LOL... I was going to say something about the fins too...

So I will content myself to point out the excellent pinstripe. I also love that the cars say "Disneyland USA". Thanks Walt.

That monorail picture is one of the most beautiful I’ve seen. Colors spot on, sharp, the light illuminating that back compartment with the dad getting the kids settled in. Wow. What size transparency was that? Whoever took this used a really nice camera. Of course, I’m sure you gave it the Major magic touch.

Yeah, those fins are pretty amazing! And I agree that "Disneyland USA" is way better than "Disneyland Park".

SundayNight, thanks for the compliments - this slide needed some color restoration, so it does still look a little off, but it looks OK. And it IS larger than 35 mm... I don't have it in front of me, but it is roughly 1.75" square.

That first picture of the monorail is going to be my new desktop wallpaper. Many thanks, Major (and it's free, too)!

What Thufer said.

I remember seeing the taillights as a boy and noticing how they resembled those of the automobiles. Back then, I didn't distinguish models, but Cadillac is the style.

Awesome shot, Major.
