More Japanese Village
Here are three more photos from Buena Park's "Japanese Village and Deer Park". See some other photos here and here.
My favorite redhead strikes a pose on a bridge that is beautiful, but not very practical. What if you were on a unicycle? That semi-circular design was probably strong though, which is handy in a country infested with giant monsters. Mothra wouldn't be able to dent it!
Dolphins are cool! Look how close you could get to this one. I want a pet dolphin - what a great team we'd be. I'd do what I normally do, and he'd swim around and eat fish. Some fun!
Red is smiling, but that lady in the striped top better beware... I think that dove is taking aim. Birds are OK I guess, but I don't want them landing on me. I get skeeved out. Ever had a crow poop on you? Once is enough, believe me.

A unicycle may be the only thing you could get over that bridge on (besides Mothra). Regulators probably wouldn't even allow that to be made now.
Dolphin is paying no attention; after all, he only speaks Japanese Cervidae, which is why he is there in a Deer Park. Besides which he's really mellow from what they use in that incredibly clean beautiful water.
Girl in pink still has her arm wrapped from the last visit and Mr. Dove is looking very proud of the damage he did. Red is fearless or foolish. ;)
Enjoyed the trip again thanks for the post! :)
Quite a fantastic bag Red is carrying.
Always love the Japanese Village shots.
Your top shot actually appears to be the Japanese Gardens at the Huntington Art Gallery near Pasadena. The bridge is still there, but the nanny state prevents anyone from enjoying it in this manner.
And Matterhorn's right, that bag is incredible!
Maybe you are right, outsidetheberm... all the photos were in one group, but it is true that her outfit has magically changed!!
Red was probably on vacation in Southern California back in the day. Cool photos. And WHICH bag are you guys talking about? Her purse or the plastic bag that looks like it has tikis on it??
I remember climbing a similar bridge at the Japanese Garden in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park when I was two. I thought it was a decommissioned water wheel (and I'm not kidding - my parents had to set me straight when reminiscing about it a few years later).
I remember it being a particularly scary climb on all fours that got easier as you got near the top. Not sure how I got down. In fact, I don't think I ever did. Somebody...please...HELP!!
Yay! More great shots of JV & DP. Not to be greedy....but I hope you have even more! Thanks for sharing these, Major. Oh, and my eyes went right to that bag....the merchandise bag, that is.
I agree w/Chuck, and I think that the first shot is of the bridge (that is still there) from the Japanese Tea Garden in S.F.'s Golden Gate Park. The tower in the background looks just like the old De Young Museum tower.
I've been there many times... But maybe the Huntington has a tall tower also?
Thanks!
@Chuck & Walterworld. Agree, the moon bridge is Golden Gate park. The bridge is still there, the museum tower visible through the trees, is not.
JG
...and neither, alas, is Red...
Thanks as always for the pics Maj.
Whoa, OK... so it's not even the Huntington, but it's in SF? I wouldn't have ever guessed that!
