Fantasyland, August 1960

Arg! Things have been busy here at Gorilla Industries, so today's post isn't getting the love and care that it ordinarily would. I'll make it up to you someday!

Fantasyland 1960, that's the place to be if you want to ride a giant teacup. There are teacup rides at other parks these days. Not resembling the teacups, the rides look exactly like the teacups! Which makes me wonder, was Disneyland's the first? I can only assume that's the case. Love the glimpse of old Fantasyland's flat facades.

In the old days, it was hard to find employment if you happen to be a fiberglass elephant. Thank goodness they had a place at Disneyland! It looks like they have the day off in this photo. As a kid I was always fascinated by the mechanism that made the flying heffalumps go up and down.

And finally, the Pirate Ship is heading right towards us, full speed ahead! Or maybe not, the ship isn't kicking up any bow wave. See that girl kneeling on the shady bench? That's how people sit in Europe. They don't sit on their backsides like we do here in the U.S. of A. I'm totally serious! So this girl must be from France or Italy or something. See what you learn on this blog?

These are sure nice for not getting the love and care they usually would! Seems like an odd way to sit, those wacky Europeans!

I don't care for these pictures. They don't look like Knott's Berry Farm AT ALL.

Nice bonus in that Dumbo shot--a clear view of a Kodak Picture Spot!

I like how the ship looks like it's gonna hit the pavement, and take out those wacky Europeans.
