Easter, and Snoozles™
Because I compose my blog posts so far in advance, I often forget that certain days are actual holidays. Like EASTER, for instance! Luckily for me, Sue B. always knows what's what, and she sent along two fun vintage scans for the occasion.
Let's start with this undated (but probably 1950s) photo of a woman who might be a bit tired (?) at the end of the day (since it seems to be nighttime). On the table is a classic Easter basket, along with lots of cool camera equipment, along with a frankly-huge hard cover manual for a Leica camera. Nice!
Next is this cute photo of two kids in their Sunday finest. The girl even has a bonnet, which is as traditional as can be. What do you call that collar thing? It's like the world's largest Peter Pan collar. I'm sure they are thrilled with their Easter baskets, in spite of their calm exteriors.
THANK YOU, Sue B., for sharing these fun Easter pix with us!

It's Sunday, a day of rest, and also a day of not-so-great photos (some call then Snoozles™). First up, a Blurzle, taken from a runaway Monorail. Clem, the pilot, was talking to a pretty gal on the platform when the train started moving. NOT AGAIN! You can't see it, but he's actually chasing the Monorail on the beam, a la Buster Keaton. Screechy looks great, even when blurry.
"What the heck, Major? This one isn't so bad!". Well, I was liquored up, and you don't want to be around me when I'm liquored up. I once punched a man for snoring (he was in a hospital bed, admittedly).

Happy Easter, everyone!
I see an Easter theme throughout...Screechy's carrying an Easter egg, and the gal bears (I don't recall their names - but maybe someone else will) have on their Easter bonnets.
Thanks, Major. I hope the Easter Bunny hides lots of your favorite candy, and you can easily find it.
Easter #1: I don't see any goodies in the Easter basket! Just fake grass. I'm guessing the tired lady is the photography buff. That blue box over in the left corner of the room says, "French Fry Cutter". And we had one just like it (from what I can see)... probably still do, stuck at the back of some bottom kitchen cupboard.
Easter #2: Major, I believe that "collar thing" is called a "collar". Har,har, har. These kids have properly filled Easter baskets, unlike tired lady's basket in the first image. The girl reminds me of Karen Dotrice (Jane, in Mary Poppins). And the boy... well, now we know where Pee-wee Herman got his inspiration.
Thank you, Sue! (Haven't heard much from you lately.)
Snoozle (Blurzle) #1: Screechy is probably thankful that the picture is blurry... we can't see her wrinkles and crow's feet (eagle's feet?). Are those (yellow and blue) Bobsleds near the Matterhorn station? What is the blurry blob stuck amongst the Skyway cables on the right?
Snoozle #2: Hmm, not blurry enough! You need to add more Blur™, Major. Actually a nice photo. Very representative of the Country Bears show.
Thanks, Major. (Now you can go back to your liquor.) :-p
Major-
Off to the side of that tuckered-out gal appears to be a Ciné-Kodak 8 Model 20 or 25, which took special 16mm film. Each frame exposed in the camera is only half the width and half the height of a standard frame of 16mm film. After the 25 feet of film is run through the camera, the spools must be reversed and the other half of the film is exposed.
When the film is processed, it is slit down the middle, spliced end-to-end and returned as a 50-foot reel of 8mm film. We had a camera just like it, that among other locations, was also used to capture Disneyland in 1956.
That gigantic collar looks to be a Pilgrim collar - but I'm no expert.
Thanks Sue and The Major. Happy Easter to all.
And THIS never gets old-!
"What is the blurry blob stuck amongst the Skyway cables on the right?"
JB, that looks like a flying Dumbo tangled in the wires. It happens.
(Haven't heard much from you lately.)
JB, I promise you that I'm here everyday laughing, even when I don't comment.
Nanook, thank you for adding that video link. It IS hilarious!
What do you call that collar thing?
A lampshade?
.....the gal bears (I don't recall their names - but maybe someone else will) have on their Easter bonnets.
Sue, the "gal bears" were the Sunbonnet Trio.....Bunny, Bubbles, and Beeeeeulah!
Thank you, Major and Sue! And a happy Easter to all!
