Snoozer Sunday

Grouchy? Having trouble sleeping? Do you suffer from dandruff? Halitosis? Ring around the collar? What about red eyes, or chapped lips, or tartar? Well, you are a mess. But I can help you with the sleep issue, at any rate. Because today's "Snoozer Sunday" photos are guaranteed to induce slumber, or you'll get your money back. Please don't look at them while operating heavy machinery.

The Matterhorn has an infestation of red-shirted mountain climbers. Quick, Henry, the Flit! (1940's  bug spray reference). When MY Matterhorn has too many climbers, I install wasp nests. Works every time. I'm not sure if you can tell in this jpeg, but the guy at the summit is sitting and dangling his feet over the edge.

I'm not sure what the photographer was intending to capture, but what he got was a man in the foreground, eclipsing several people behind him. Maybe he was trying to show the guests as they de-planed. That's what you call it when you leave a submarine, right? Anyway, it's a bad photo.

Major-

Hmmmm.... what just happened-? I was about to preview my commentary for two beautiful images of the Sleeping Beauty Castle, one with a family, and another bereft of guests. And then, as if by magic, these new images popped-up. Well - we still have the Matterhorn, and an odd image from the Submarine Voyage highlighting the latest in mens slacks. (I'll take the pair with the Sansabelt, please).

Thanks, Major.

DE PLANE, DE PLANE! Okay, someone had to say it. Maybe Nanook hit the nail on the head. It was a runway fashion show on the dock of the Subs.

It looks like the mountain climber dangling his legs over the ledge is channeling Lily Tomlin's Edith Ann!

Thank you, Major. I had gotten up absurdly early for a Sunday morning with an aching back and acid indigestion. Tums, Advil and GDB consumed, I can now go back to bed to dream of Sansabelt slacks and a mountain-climbing Edith Ann.

And that's the truth. THPPFT!

Des Plaines is a city in Cook County, Illinois, United States. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 58,364. It is a suburb of Chicago and is next to O'Hare International Airport.

Nanook, I believe that what you are describing is known as a “flashback”. Just kidding! At about 12:15, I saw that no new post had published. I then accidentally set the wrong post to publish right away. THEN I saw my mistake, and published the one that was supposed to go up in the first place. It’s all very exciting.

TokyoMagic!, I had to go back and read the post again; “Why is TokyoMagic! invoking the memory of Herve Villechaize, one of our greatest actors?”. Now I know. Edith Ann, now that’s an obscure reference for many people.

Scott Lane, hey, the Sanasabelt and Edith Ann references weren’t mine, you can’t blame me!

Gnometrek, you forgot to mention that Robert Reed, aka “Mike Brady”, grew up in Des Plaines.

@ TM!-

If it was a runway fashion show on the dock, I'd be leery of that "last step"-!

Nanook, reminds me of the punchline from an old joke - "when you're out of slits, you're out of pier."

@ Chuck-

Ouch-!!

That's a redshirt for you, constantly in danger on an artificial rocky landscape.

I want Bobsleds, darn it!

Nanook, maybe it was a swimwear fashion show?

Chuck, I love how one doesn’t even need to hear the joke to figure it out.

Nanook, ouch indeed.

Melissa, we all remember the episode in which Kirk and Spock were stranded on the Matterhorn, bedeviled by an abominable snowman. Scary!

Patrick Devlin, ME TOO.

"Dammit, Jim, I'm a doctor, not a bobsled racer!"

Disney, Star Trek, and Laugh In references! Only on GDB! I love you guys!

This is a classic thread.

I'm guessing photo 2 was set up by mom or grandma to highlight grandpa and granddaughter getting out of the submarine and got bombed by TWO passers-by...

It seems like there should have been submarines in Star Trek, the mugato was a passable abominable snowman... my mind is wandering now...
