3-D in 2-D!

It's time for more fun with vintage Viewmasters!

Here's a nice low-angle view of the fishing bears in (where else) Bear Country. Just once they'd like a chili cheeseburger and onion rings.

This one didn't come out very good for some reason, but you can kind of make out a few industrious beavers (is there one just visible beneath the water?) building a dam. This dam will supply electricity to over 100,000 homes.

Mama eagle is not too happy that the bobcat has decided to drop by without calling first. Fortunately she just happened to be cooking some pizza rolls, which bobcats love. Her babies are safe - for now!

After a trip through Nature's Wonderland, I like to go see a not-very-naughty show at the Golden Horseshoe.

I like the scene with the bobcat and eagles. For some reason (probably age), I don't remember them. Do you know what part of the train ride that scene was from?

TokyoMagic!, it looks like the bobcat must have been in Bear Country, or possibly Beaver Valley. I checked Chris Merritt's great map, but couldn't find it there, so I'm afraid I don't know for sure.

Connie, I'm glad you liked that one!

Viewmaster was such a great invention--I wonder why the adult public never took it seriously? Kind of like dinosaurs: It's this wonderous, amazing thing that most adults think you're supposed to "grow out of." What?!?

Great job with these Major! Quite a bit of detail in the Golden Horseshoe picture.

Rich, I've often wondered that too. On the plus side its made collecting Viewmasters relatively cheap. I've even got a hall closet full of the "Talking Viewmater" sets, I think I have them all.... "Grow out of it"? Never :-)

Thanks Major!

Rich T. and VDT, I agree with you about Viewmasters. They were originally sold in camera stores and I think they were taken a bit more seriously. At some point it was perceived as more of a toy, and the reels offered leaned heavily towards popular cartoons, movies & TV shows.

I wish I still had my old Viewmasters. Sigh.

Thanks for these. Now I want a pizza roll.
