Sleeping Beauty Castle, March 13 1958

I love these two photos of a mother and daughter posing in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle at different times of the day!

What's with all the "suits"?! And where are all the other children? I think the castle looks wonderful with its soft shades of blue and gray (with only a hint of pink above the archway). The daughter is cute in her blue coat and babushka. All of those semi-circular seating areas were recently removed thanks to Cal OSHA and the Disney lawyers. I feel safer already!

Later in the day dad took another photo, this time from an oblique angle that is very pretty in the late-afternoon sunlight. There's not another soul to be seen! I guess people wanted to be home in time for dinner. If you look carefully you can just see part of the Skyway tower on Holiday Hill over to our right.

Major-

Both are wonderful shots. I'm curious as to the "design" which only seems to appear on the left leg of the little girl's pants. Oh, the things of which we obsess-!

Thanks, Major.

First of all: BABY BABUSHKA! You made my week!

Now that that’s out of the way, wow, how gorgeous are these pictures? They’re practically painterly in composition and color. It’s as if all the guests got together and coordinated their wardrobe in #1, and the dappled light in #2 is like something out of an early Monet. A real pair of beauties.

Also, love the open-mouthed walking man in #1. He looks like he’s just burst into song.

There's a bright golden haze on the castle;
There's a bright golden haze on the castle.
The turrets are high as the elephants fly,
An' it looks like they're climbin' clear up to the sky!

Oh, what a beautiful mornin';
Oh, what a beautiful day!
I've got a book full o' tickets:
A "D," and a "C," "B," and "A."

All the statues are standin' like cattle;
All the statues are standin' like cattle.
They don't turn their heads as they see me walk by,
But I think Cinderella just gave me the eye!

Oh, what a beautiful mornin';
Oh, what a beautiful day!
I've got a wonderful view of
Everything from the Skyway.

Nanook, I noticed the leg with the design too… I wonder if it's not one of those old iron-on patches? My mom had a big box full of those things (in all kinds of colors, though they never matched). Little boys always got holes in the knees of their pants. But that girl looks so neat and proper, she couldn't have a hole in the knee, could she??

Melissa, I obviously agree, these are extra-nice as far as color, clarity, and composition. I love your lyrics (my dad used to play the soundtrack to "Oklahoma!" when I was a lad), and you get extra points for remembering that "E" tickets didn't exist yet!

K. Martinez, I think I need to start paying Melissa She'll get twice what I get paid!!

Major, some of my earliest memories are of my Mom playing and singing the Oklahoma! soundtrack to us! How many preschoolers' favorite lullaby is "Pore Jud is Daid?"

Major-

I'm so happy to hear you've decided to start paying Melissa for her "services"-! And as her agent, I will be handling all of her negotiations and contracts. (And, of course, take my 10% fee). At your earliest convenience, please let me know where I can send the contract documentation.

On behalf of both Melissa and myselfI I'd like to express our thanks at your decision and close by saying - It's about time-! "Oh What a Beautiful Mornin' " - indeed-!!

beautiful day.....but they look so lonely in the second picture, like it was time to go home and they were going to be the last ones out.
