Tiki Room Exterior (1970's?)

Here are a few photos of the Enchanted Tiki Room's outdoor pre-show area! I believe that they date from the early 70's, although they might be from the late 60's as well.

"My name is Maui. Natives call me "The Mighty One." I tamed the playful sun and gave my people time. Now they set their clocks by mine, for I am tropic standard time."

"I am Tangaroa, father of all gods and goddesses. Here in this land of enchantment, I appear before you as a mighty tree. Stand back! [gong] Oh, mystic powers, hear my call. From my limbs, let new life fall!"

Who wouldn't love to have one of those little figures that drop from Tangaroa's flowers?

And finally, an interior photo; Let's all sing like the birdies sing!

Very nice, I like the interior of the bird mobile.

Funny you mention the figurines that fall from Tongaroa, they do show up occasionally on eBay. If I had the moola, they'd be mine.

Thanks for the shots, Major!

I was so glad to see the Tiki Room packed two weeks ago on a Monday afternoon. Everyone was singing along and having a great time!

Nice post! I still looks nice, not quite like these pics, but fun still. Hey George, I was at the park on Monday 3/10 and yep, the Tiki Room and pre-show area's were packed and lot's of fun. It sure was nice to see people appreciate it. The Dole Whip was worth the wait too!

Good to hear that the Tiki Room continues to pack 'em in. Maui was very kind to us when I worked there. We'd throw a few coins in the pool in the morning and watch the contributions accumulate throughout the day. Helped defray the cost of a scooner or two at HJ's that evening...or make a contribution toward the annual Custer's party or Bananna Ball.

My favorite attraction in all of Disneyland. It's one of the few where I still see really young kids just become mesmerized.

Please, more photos of Adventureland and New Orleans Square!
