Meet Me On Main Street

...Town Square, to be precise. Just look at all the people. They are converging around the flag pole, presumably to observe the lowering of the American flag as the sun sets. Let's hope that the guests remember to doff their silly souvenir chapeaus in order to show their respect!

If we look a bit more to the east, we see the Hills Bros. Coffee Garden, a diligent custodian cleaning up after the horses, and a sliver of the Opera House when it showed the sets from "Babes in Toyland".

And, one year later, when everything was blurry due to a passing comet, we see plenty of folks enjoying a meal at the Hills Bros. restaurant. I once bought a 1960 souvenir map (rolled!) from a woman who said she worked at this restaurant, and she recalled that Walt Disney often stopped by in the morning for a pastry. Well, I thought it was interesting, even if you don't!

Bur seriously folks...Thanks to the Major (maybe a promotion is in order?) we have another nice post.

Good work---I believe I ate there with my folks when I was but a lad...(early 70's).

Do you guys think Walt paid for his own sweets in the morning? That's actually a serious question. I can see him doing it, if only to be sure the receipts and money handling were done correctly.

Ahhhhhhhhhh! I can smell the aroma of those freshly ground coffee beans right now. Nothing like a fresh cup of coffee and the big band a playin'. Beauty pix Major.

I worked at Hill's in 1969-1970 and recall that Roy Disney dined with us one evening.
