Twain Snoozles™, May 1971
Today's Snoozles are not so terrible, really - they're just sort of "same old, same old". But I'm happy to see our Mark Twain gleaming in the sunshine on our Big River, it's still a pretty sight. And, ya know, it makes me thankful that we still have the steamboat and river here in Anaheim. The Old Mill looks great, and I like the Canoe in the scene.

After carefully applying the parking brake (I love that old-timey ratcheting sound!), the Mark Twain unloads at the dock. This is (of course) pre-Big Thunder Mountain, it's almost surprising to see hillsides covered in trees and shrubs, and no southwestern rock formations.

Major, I just had a random thought…referring to your commentary today and use of ”same old, same old” — I can’t help but wonder if that’s where the phrase “so-so” originated—it’s an abbreviation (though the internet does not back me up on this).
Today’s images aren’t so-so at all. They are peaceful and relaxing, very pleasant to look at. Thank you.
Oh boy, twin Twains! There are a lot of people milling around the Mill. There must be a buy-one-get-one sale on bags of flour. I see they still haven't fixed that bent chimney pipe. ;-) Looks like we can see the 'navigation' barrel floating in the water just below the Canoe. Can't tell for sure because only the thumbnail is showing up. (Harumph!)
Well harumph again! The full sized second image is displaying a slightly larger version of the first photo. At least I can verify that the 'navigation' barrel is indeed below the Canoe. Looking at the second thumbnail, is that a Tom Sawyer Raft dock on the left, or the fishing pier? Maybe the fishing pier was already gone by 1971?
Sue, I hadn't thought of that (so-so). I'm gonna say your theory is correct, even if mean ol' Google doesn't agree. (I think ol' man Google is constipated.)
Like Sue said, peaceful and pleasant, even if they are overly familiar. Thanks, Major.
JB, you need to pay-up your yearly subscription fee to Major, if you want a properly-working version of GDB.
^ Hmm, I wonder if major accepts Beanie Babies as payment?
