A Pair From July, 1965
Here's a nice pair of scans from the Summer of 1965! Starting with this nice view of Tomorrowland as seen from a Skyway gondola. At the extreme lower edge we can just see the Yacht Bar, along with the shaded outdoor seating. Then there's the Astro Jets in the "up" position; and the Douglas Moonliner. To the right of the Moonliner (with vapor escaping!), in the distance, you can see the curve of the Flying Saucers area, as well as the old Art Corner building. Outside the park, there's Wilbur Clark's Crest Hotel, and Melodyland.
This one's a little less exciting, but hey, I still like it; we're aboard the Skyway (the rectangular gondolas were brand-new in 1965), about to pass through the Matterhorn's nostrils. Make a wish?

Major-
We're cutting things a bit close if that 1st image is from July, 1965 - as we can see straight-thru the upper floor of the Crest Hotel. (It opened on August 1st, 1965). Suspect the image is at least 'a touch' older - or not... and the see-thru feature was just that-!
Thanks, Major.
Tomorrowland just isn't the same without a massive Rocket reaching into the sky! It's such an iconic Disneyland fixture. In the background, toward the right, there is a pod of low-flying UFOs in loose formation. I think they're siphoning off power from the power lines. Do the flags above the Yacht Bar mean anything?
Major, you forgot to mention the Bobsled zipping under the Gondolas. It appears to be black and white in color, like an orca. I don't remember seeing one of that color before. This is a nice picture! "Make a wish", I wish that the Matterhorn doesn't sneeze when we pass through its nostrils!
Nice-looking photos! Thanks, Major.
I thought I was the only one who made wishes when flossing my nostrils. Nice to know there are others like me.
JB, I don't think the first two flags mean anything in nautical signalling, but the yellow one is the letter "Q." Hoisted alone, it means that our ship is healthy and we are requesting entry into port. Two of those flags would mean that there is illness aboard and that we are in quarantine.
Nanook, at this point it should go without saying that any slide with a date-stamp could be taken weeks or months before. So that “see through feature” was just - nothing? No restaurant? No bridal suite? Seems weird.
JB, I do kind of wonder why rockets became out of fashion for Tomorrowland. Yes, there’s still the small Moonliner (not sure how it’s decorated these days), but it’s not that impressive. I’m pretty sure the flags above the Yacht Bar were merely decorative. And you’re right, I forgot to mention the Bobsled! It’s right there, bringing happiness and joy to all the world.
Chuck, flossing nostrils is a practice brought to us from the Far East, where they have wisdom we cannot even comprehend. Yes, I hope that the Yacht Bar is not trying to tell everyone that the plague is “aboard”!
Whatever date we land on, these pics seem to be taken either just before or just after my photos recently posted. The Tomorrowland of 1986!
The Yacht Bar flags spelled out the menu, including the daily special. “Burgers”, “Fries”, “Soda Pop”, “Paprikash”, “Swiss Steak”, “Blanquette de Veau”, etc.
Guests were handed a packet of Nostril Floss when boarding the Skyway. Major is correct, this ancient Tibetan practice was brought over by the Yeti.
That bobsled “might” be Dark Green, at least I know there were green ones with white trim, while I’ve never seen a black and white one, except in photos (nudge, nudge).
Thank you Major!

The Crest Hotel: with the "see through" feature...yup: sounds like Anaheim. I had a conversation with someone the other day about Anaheim and it's sometimes nefarious past: hosting Patty Hearst during the burning of the SLA house, and the other "magical" "solo entrepreneurship activities" South of Katella on Harbor. "Where Conventions go...Trouble Follows". Apparently, in today's world these businesses are more organized, and the Resort neighborhood authorities keep the area rather free from anything but the most savory and family orientated experiences. Anaheim is actually a nice city, with a long history. I recommend going outside the "Resort Berm" for a different take on the OC experience if you have the chance. Major, you forgot to mention the go away green locker rooms there behind the rocket, and flying saucers. It's kind of nice to see trees there...which of course are long gone. Pine trees were in the future. Given their longevity: I get it. I like how all of those umbrellas line up at the Yacht Bar: I never noticed this before. For some reason, I do not like the word "nostril": not sure why....but I don't. The holes in the Matterhorn seem very "squared off", and less natural....and I enjoy seeing the black and white toboggan. The ride seems more "real" with a single toboggan, and the people riding seated "onesies". Those guys look like they are hanging on...and I get it. That ride is unforgiving...but I do enjoy it. Thanks major for a 1965 Monday.

"So that “see through feature” was just - nothing? No restaurant?..."
Perhaps that was the Sky Room...
Maybe they wanted to run another leg of the Skyway through the Crest Hotel.
^ LOL!
JG, there is that one flag that actually does show the outline of a cup of coffee! My favorite. Nostril Floss - cinnamon scented. Yes, that bobsled is definitely green and white!
Bu, I had no idea Patty Hearst had any dealings in Anaheim. What a wonderful legacy for the city! And for Tanya. As you said, there almost certainly must be some unusual businesses in Anaheim, but I’m assuming they used to be a lot more obvious than they are today. I don’t think I mentioned the go-away-green lockers because I’ve pointed them out before, but maybe we have some new viewers! Being square(ish), it must have been pretty easy to line up those Yacht Bar umbrellas, but at least they tried to put them in some sort of color pattern instead of a random jumble. Hmmm, “nostril” never bothered me, but maybe it will from now on. I was sad that I didn’t get to ride the Matterhorn the last time I was at the park - the line was just too long. And the time before that, the animatronic Yeti wasn’t working, so I still haven’t had the full experience.
Nanook, you’d think that they could charge extra for those “penthouse” views!
Dean Finder, that would be COOL.
Lou and Sue, he was serious!
