Bachelors & Ramblers, July 17 1968

What happens when the Royal Street Bachelors and the Delta Ramblers meet on the street in New Orleans Square? A rumble? Nope. You get some sweet sweet Dixieland music, that's what. If only we could hear the results!

The boys from the shoe shine stand in New Orleans Square have come out to join in the fun. I've seen them referred to as Kenny and Teddy, but who knows. All of the Ramblers have a piece of paper on either their hats or their vests. Any idea what those were?

When you said "Ramblers" I half expected a parking lot shot.

For all the years I worked Pirates while the Bachelors played in the early 70s...great sounds. Wish I could step into the picture to hear them again. Don't recall the Ramblers but my guess is that those are playing cards in their hats.

I worked at the Mouse House in the late '70s and early '80s. Each year on July 17, we'd be given a carnation with a paper tag indicating that day was Disneyland's "birthday." The tag would read, for example, "We're 23 years old today." In these pictures, the Bachelors and Ramblers are probably sporting tags proclaiming the Park's 13th birthday. So, someone cut me a piece of birthday cake (not too much frosting, please).

My Dad loved NOS and the French Market. Many times we ate dinner there and listened to the music. I also remember the guys in your post today. they may have been the same group, just more mobile. We often had to stop and listen to them, I remember being impatient and wanting to run on, while Mom and Dad enjoyed the music.
