That Krazy Kastle, June 1968

It's pointy, it's crenelated, it's moat-ified, it's Sleeping Beauty Castle! You might not realize it, but outside of miniature golf courses, there aren't many castles in Southern California. No, it's true. I like this first photo, taken a bit further away than usual. There's the hub, pre-"Partners" statue and full of flowers. The "Partners" statue should have had Walt and Mickey riding mini-bikes and eating hoagies. This picture is good for a bit of vintage people-watching.

Well, whenever I try to take a picture of something, some jerk parks a horse-drawn streetcar in front of it. Murphy's Law, amiright? And that Omnibus just adds insult to injury.

I know it was 1968, but those mini-skirts are a little TOO mini on that mother and daughter in the second pic....or is that a grandmother and granddaughter?

I have often wondered why congestion is dreaded everywhere except the park? Good pictures both.

TM!, HA HA! I'm not sure that what the toddler is wearing is a "mini skirt", but I agree that the mom's dress is pretty short!

Thufer, somehow I don't mind a traffic jam if it involves a horse-drawn streetcar, and omnibus, a surrey, and an old fashioned fire engine!

Dang, that first pic is awesome! To be honest, I could not remember the hub without Partners.

Now that I'm more awake, I had to look up "crenellated." So THAT is what that pattern is called! For some reason, I don't remember that word from Humanities 101 when we were learning about flying buttresses, etc. Thanks, Major....I learned a new word today!

Connie, you probably already know this, but I preferred it when there was no "Partners" statue. And believe me, I am a huge Walt Disney admirer!

TM!, at least you spelled "crenellated" correctly (with two ll's)! Please use that word 10 times today - extra points if you combine it with "drupelets"!

You know, the hedges between Dumbo and Storybook Land are crenellated and so is the hedge around the extended queue for Mr. Toad. Years ago, I went out and bought the exact same type of hedge plant (Eugenia Myrtifolia) to put between myself and my neighbor and I thought I would trim the tops of them.....or CRENELLATE them so they looked like the ones in Fantasyland. Well THAT never happened! They are just a tall, green, non-crenellated "wall"...but they are still nice.

Now I only have to use crenellated seven more times today.....uh, make that six!

Not sure what relationship the guy in yellow sitting on the bench in the first picture is to the young man on his right -he seems to young to his father, but too old to be a friend (make a younger uncle?), but I'm once again reminded how fashion is circular. The teen is wearing those skinny jeans (though I'm sure they're designed for boys, no way a teen would be caught dead wearing girls skinny jeans that we see today).

Once again, though, where are the crowds?
