Streetcar & Castle, June 1975

It's a lazy sunday here at the Gorilla Compound, so today's photos are appropriately ho-hum. Yawning is encouraged!

Yep, Horse-Drawn Streetcar, Matterhorn, and one or two hippies. That's about it!

The crowds are about to reach critical mass - - if you add only a few more people, spontaneous cannibalism will occur. Yum! In an effort to take a nice photo of the castle, one desperate guest risks life and limb. And all he got was a good picture of that cloth banner. Sucka!

If you look to the left of the horse in the top pic you will see confirmation of the oft-rumored arcane early Disneyland policy that exiting cast members with suspenders must not leave work at a rate faster than the Main Street Trolley.

Chiana_Chat, maybe they were firming up plans to meet after work for a Plantars Punch and a look at the show at the Tahitian Terrace!

No Ho Hum-ness here! First pic is shouting for a "Before and After" comparison.

Second pic: I hear TODAY (1/3/10) might be the busiest day EVER at Disneyland, the annual pass block out dates all opened back up today, add holiday tourists, kids out of school, last day of the Holiday layover, OMG - talk about spontaneous cannibalism!

The 2nd pic reminded me when I visited Disneyland this past August 2009 the Sleeping Beauty castle (where you can walk around inside and see the dioramas and more) is BACK. I see now that it is old news, but still.. I think the fact that they brought something back was neato!

I think today is also the last day for Fantasmic since the Rivers of America will be drained for several months.

These are great 70's shots. I love the seventies!

ROA drained for a while? Perfect opportunity to move Fantasmic! to Disney's California Adventure, where it would really fit and where it's needed. Then restore the island and ROA so it's the island and ROA instead of a giant stage doing double duty as a vaguely themed "attraction area" like you'd see at Sea World. Somebody tell the upper level folks at DL/DCA management...

Chiana, I couldn't agree with you more! But I'm sure any hope for that has gone out the window with the new water show that is scheduled to open at DCA this year. I like the way that WDW has their own separate viewing area set aside for Fantasmic that doesn't interfere with pedestrian traffic....and they didn't destroy the atmosphere of their river or island.

I think that hippie on the left may be my congressman!
