This blog has nothing to do with gorillas (though I love 'em)...fellow bloggers have inspired me to share vintage images of Disneyland from my personal collection. But don't be surprised if you see something from a World's Fair, Knott's Berry Farm, or someplace else that is cool!
As if the prospect of riding the Mine Train Through Nature's Wonderland wasn't enough, lucky Disneyland guests were sometimes treated to the music of the Gonzales Trio. Notice how the park spared no expense when fabricating the portable stage, decorated with four casks and plenty of burlap.

I remember this little stage so well, as well the Trio Gonzales. They would sing, "Tacos for Two," a parody of "Cocktails for Two." In the summer evenings, the stage was taken over by a bluegrass group, "The Mad Mountain Ramblers," featuring DAvid Lindley, later to achieve rock and roll success with a group call X-Rayo.
It is more theming than their previous stage in El Zocala. And a bit bigger I might add. I would love to hear Tacos for Two. Sounds like a fun little ditty.
sing: "our hearts were burning
but it wasn't from the yearning
so we both reached for the water
'cuz our faces, red were turning...
I found I didn't have a dime
And so for that I'm doing time
etc...
Ha ha, so much for my idea that the Trio Gonzales played traditional Mexican folk music. "Tacos for Two"! Merlinsguy, I am impressed that you remember the lyrics so well.
I'll try to dig up another slide that was taken of a different group on a different portable stage, but in the exact same area (from 1960, I think).
