Randos From the 1970s
The SEVENTIES. Maybe you've heard of them? Disco. Star Wars. Um... other stuff. Hey, I'm busy, I don't have time to do a book report, gee whiz! Sorry, I get worked up. Today's scans are from that decade, the only decade where nothing bad happened, according "Happy Time Magazine".
A giant donkey is loose on Main Street - but he's not causing any problems, so send the Swat team home. Yes, those boys will be disappointed, but maybe they can shoot at some tin cans or something. Kids sure seem to love this donkey, they can sense his emotional void, and attempt to fill it with a little love. Note to self: buy some purple pants like that one kid has.
In the 70s, you heard "The Hustle" everywhere you went, even Disneyland. And everybody boogied down all the time, even grandmas and grandpas. That flute, you couldn't resist it. Here's a nice sunny photo of the Matterhorn, with a bit of Peoplemover track (but no actual Peoplemover, alas). There's also a red Skyway gondola, and at first I thought there was a blue one too, but that's just where some emulsion flaked off due to El NiƱo.
This is my final day out of town, never fear!

"Note to self: buy some purple pants like that one kid has".
Careful, Major... 'purple pants' can only be properly worn by that special individual. Are you up to the task-?
Thanks, Major.
Leather fringe... Yep, it's the seventies! That's an unusual Mouse Ears hat the kid on the right is wearing... white ears! And what are those white lumpy things in-between the ears? Eeyore is so cuddly; even I have an urge to cuddle him.
No blue Gondola, but there IS a yeller one! (Behind the palm trees.) There's a sliver of red up on the PeopleMover track (just inside the opening), is that one of the PM cars?
Now I've got that flutey-tooty music eating my brain. Thanks a lot, Major. ;-)
Blogger has [once again] decided to reset itself back to some 'neutral position', momentarily forgetting its "named authors". I'm the one 'challenging' your desire to become the proud owner of a pair of such snazzy pants-!
Ah, the 70s... Decade of my first trip to Disneyland! 1973, to be exact!
That's all I gots.
Oh, and I used to wear purple Converses.
Ok, that's it.
Have always loved the iconic Disneyland image of the Matterhorn framed by palm trees. Thanks, Major.
I think that purple might officially be aubergine , also known as eggplant in the US...and someone please get hold of Donny Osmond...or did he have purple socks? Was he into all purple things? Anything can happen at Disneyland. I thought Eeyore was an unlikely character roaming about trying to be gregarious, but not really in his nature. A day in the 80's, a friend of mine was inside Eeyone, dancing around doing the cha cha...and I thought it very out of character...but all the kids were squealing and laughing so I guess I don't know anything. Today is boxing day....so I have my gloves on giving everyone a good nudge. I'm glad that Christmas only comes once a year, it's quite taxing and I think my feet would hurt less if they just got chopped off...lot's of kitchen time in the past 48 hours: and I thought I wanted a brick floor in there...I think kitchen floors should be bouncy like a wrestling ring, which makes boxing day even more relevant! (and a good way to keep the snoops out of the kitchen!). Happy 26 to all!
JB, my little sister and I had white-eared Mickey hats at sone point in the mid-‘70s. The white lumpy things in between the ears is a bow. Here’s a better photoof what that looked like.
