Indian Village 1956

At first glance, this photo from the old Indian Village isn't very interesting. The composition is weird, with nearly 1/3 of the image filled with the empty Dance Circle.

But, zooming in to the left, it looks like a little girl and her mom (Or big sister? Maybe that's mom to the right, getting ready to take a picture) are seated next to one of the Native American performers, all ready to pose for a photo. But first, the other fellow in the headdress is going to join the fun! I wish I could see what the finished portrait looked like!

And a day without a photo of the Mark Twain is like a day without sunshine. So… here you go! Tom Sawyer Island looks like it might not be open to the public yet, though it's hard to say for sure. Frontierland looks so raw and new!

We've got a Twain trifecta this morning, with the steamboat hiding in the bushes in the first photo. I've read stories from the Early Days about how it used to like to sneak around when it was on break and startle the other attractions. They finally put a stop to it when it scared away the circus tent in Holidayland.

Just think. If they kept it long enough, they could've used the Indian/native American Village for a Pocahontas "meet'n'greet". Now wouldn't that be special.

And in the 2nd image is where Pocahontas first belt out the song "Just Around the Riverbend".

It's nice to get a somewhat empty shot like that first one once in awhile; it's peaceful and simple. I'm curious to know what Red McJeans was doing over there to the right, leaning over like that. Did he drop a contact lens?

The elbow symbolizes the next bend in the river, the unknown challenge that lies waiting along the great American adventure.

Yeah, that's the ticket!

He's just trying to work some of the starch out of his freshly-ironed Roebucks.

@ Melissa/Tom

Me thinks he's looking for the toddler that formerly occupied the abandoned stroller sitting aside the Indian dance circle.

@Melissa - them pants are pretty rigid. Poor kid probably can't even climb up the steps to the treehouse on Tom Sawyer's island.
