Two Snapshots, September 1971

Snapshots, we love snapshots!

Up at the Plaza end of Main Street we see a returning Streetcar. The horse looks especially peppy because he just had his morning trough of coffee (espresso, of course). The girl with the brown patchwork pants is mighty excited about lunch at the Plaza Inn.

This peaceful Indian village shows Native Americans scraping hides, drying meat, grinding corn (I call it maize), and making an early form of the frozen daiquiri. It's always cocktail hour in Frontierland.

In that second pic, we can see just a smidgen of the land where the DL Railroad tracks used to be located, prior to being bumped out to the north. This would have been only about 6 years later, so I guess that strip of land hadn't completely grown over yet. Perhaps that is where they will be parking the Millennium Falcon? I can hardly wait.

Clang, clang, clang went the trolley. Ding, ding, ding went the bellbottoms. This first photo is retro fabulous.

Those frozen daiquiri's will no doubt be a hit at the Frontierland Native American Casino and resort planned for the island(tom sawyer's)as soon as Fantasmic closes down.
Thanks for posting.

TokyoMagic!, you are right, just behind that one teepee you can see a small section of the Disneyland RR track; it always surprises me how close the train passed the "Friendly Indian Village" scene. I hope that is where they build the Ewok village! Yub nub.

Alonzo, if those Indians are smart, they will make their casino "Marvel"-themed. Iron Man slot machines, "Thor" standing out front to greet customers, and so on.

Native Americans always built their peaceful villages next to the railroad tracks. There's nothing like hearing the roar of the train behind your teepee to help you relax.

I sure hope the two new 'E' ticket attractions planned for the Star Wars Land area are worth it. If it's just more screen/video projection and/or simulator style rides, I will be pissed!!! I want more AAs in the park.

Real prizes today, Major, especially the Indian village shot. I'm off for a frozen daquiri with Chief Wavy.

If they're going to radically alter a classic, near-original corner of the Park, I hope they have more class than to replace this scene with something like a hot dog stand named "TatooWeenie." I'm holding out for a heavily-themed, immersive new thrill ride, the Ewok 'n' Roller Coaster.
