Frontierland, August 13 1960
If I had a dime for every photo I owned that was taken from the Mark Twain (or the Columbia), I would have a LOT of dimes! Eleven or twelve at least. Today's pictures were taken from one of those boats; in this first one we pass the Indian Village, bustling with guests as they take in a performance of Native American dancing. The photographer helpfully noted that the photo was taken at 2:10, for whatever that is worth.
Just a few moments later (still labeled as 2:10), we pass the other Indian Village. It's friendly, but park guests could only look.

The photographer must have been an ex-Navy photog, logging the time by habit.
Oo the NorthWest bark house. Very nifty and amazingly rustic, not a cartoony "rustic" as we seem to get dese daze. Wonder if it left the scene when the tribes changed or due to practical problems.
Both villages are lookin' good. Shiny Boy is sporting a suitable sheen. Hadn't noticed the other dog back in the scene before...
It would be cool to see an overlay of Bear/Critter Country to figure out where the Splash Mountain and Country Bear Jamboree footprints are in the Indian Village.
I for one will welcome views of the Indian Village and the dance circle as seen from the Mark Twain any day. And with the old birch bark longhouse too! Excellent.
I love K. Martinez's idea!
@K Martinez. I agree, I would love to see those transitional maps. It seems like it could be done with the Google resources.
I wish I had the time and skills, it would be a lot of fun.

Chiana, maybe you are right. The obsessive recording of the time of each photo smacks of military training! And remember, the bark house is a "wig-was-i-ga-mig"!
K. Martinez, that WOULD be cool… somebody smarter than me (or with better resources) is going to have to do it though!
Tom, lucky for you, I have about 10 zillion pictures of the Indian Village and Dance Circle!!
Connie, it is a cool idea for sure.
JG, now that I think about it, it is possible that somebody has already done something like that. Time to do some Googling.
K Martinez's idea sounds like something the Imagineering Disney blog could do. He's done that with old/new Fantasyland and I think 67/Current Tomorrowland. Very very cool stuff.
Update: I just asked him and he said it's been on his list. He'll try to pull something together when he gets some time :) Yay!
The 2nd village feels clean and fresh. It looks like it was a good day to be a Disneyland Indian.
...especially a shiny one.
