(Note: Due the fact that I am getting roughly 75 spam comments on this post each day, I have reposted it in the hopes of stopping the evil bot that is responsible. In order to keep the comments, they will now be at the bottom of the post. What can I say, I am desperate!)
I admit it, today's photos are not going to make anybody jump up and down with excitement. Except for me, because I'm a total spazz!
But the photos are just a little bit unusual, which makes them OK in my book. They both picture the area right next to the House of the Future - - more specifically, the pool and gardens. In this first photo, the house itself would be to our right (I think). It's surprising how much valuable real estate is used for making things look pretty!
By 1975, the plastic house was long-gone, but the pond and gardens remained. The area was called "Alpine Gardens" due to its proximity to that Swiss mountain we all know and love.
Whew, I'm exhausted, it was hard work trying to make these pictures interesting! I'm not sure I succeeded, either.

HERE ARE THE OLD COMMENTS!
Well they might not be interesting to everyone, but I think they are great! I use to love that area as a kid especially in the evening. It had really subdued lighting and was relatively quiet as you would walk through there. On a warm summer evening, coming from all the heat holding pavement of tomorrowland, it would also get suddenly cooler as soon as you would get to this area.
Man, I must have been a weird kid...
nope, i too remember the coolness of this place just as real as the 'weirdness' one feels over by the tomorrowland train station, at night. certain parts of the park induce certain feelings at certain times of day. odd but true. now, it may have been suggestion by name ~ alpine gardens. :: wink ::; but i believe most of us have favorite little special memory spots somewhere in the park.
You succeeded! I thought that first shot was Deer Park or Descanso Gardens! This is Titans pool area now, it's nice still, but I liked it better as the Alpine Gardens! Second photo is nice too, lots of little details to look at. Interesting is "In the eye of the beholder".. THANKS!
You are all gentlemen and scholars!
I was recently looking up info on lawns (because mine needs re-seeding), and found an article that stated that the average front lawn cools a home to the equivalent of three average window air conditioners. We all know the value of greenery and water, but Disney had it down pat.
I see I am not the only one who finds these boring (not!!) posts interesting. In fact this is one of the reasons I look forward to your daily post, hoping to see some side "dish" in the wonderful world of Disneyland. It wasn't just the rides, it was the whole package including all the details. I especially love the landscaping, signs and posters. I delight in the name Disneyland PARK.
I also treasure the smell and feel of cool air on my face plus the trees, plants, and vintage acouterments that came into my view on the Disneylan RR as it enters into Adventureland/Frontierland/NO Square. I would love to see pictures of all the little scenarios of that ride.
Major,
Great shots.
Loved Alpine Gardens as a kid. As the others have said, it was a cool and peaceful place in the midst of the busy park...
One of my favorite 'mood places' at Disneyland would be on Big Thunder trail near the pond and Mine Train cave...especially if the fish are jumpin'.
