Here are three more photos from January 1960. This is how the park looks when you've taken too much cold medication.
I'm dreaming of hovering above the Casey Jr. RR like a bumblebee. My bumblebee glasses need cleaning, but never mind. Walt figured out a way to put another train in his park, but I'm not complaining.
The Indian Village, as seen from the back of the Mark Twain. They built their village on the river because they would spend their days fishing for water buffalo, living in harmony with the land (unlike me; sometimes I go out and kick the dirt just to remind it who's boss).
Train Station complete with real train. Passengers have kung-fu grips and lifelike hair.
Ha! I thought you were going to say they built their village on rock 'n roll!
ReplyDeleteMy G.I. Joe had lifelike hair, but not the Kung Fu grip. :-(
Thanks for the good laugh this morning, Major!
The miniature castle mountain almost looks sculpted from sand in the first shot.
ReplyDeleteLater editions of that Park Railroad train set came with Missile-Firin' T-Rex!
TokyoMagic!, they actually built their village on smooth jazz. Rock 'n roll would have left them knee-deep in the hoopla (dumbest lyrics ever?).
ReplyDeleteRich T, the mountain is actually carved from a giant Abba-Zaba. And it has recently been discovered that T-Rexes really did fire missiles, those bastards!
Lifelike hair sold separately.
ReplyDeleteThis is how memories look when they start to fade.
ReplyDeleteThey gave the Sgt. Calhoun doll lifelike hair and we saw how that turned out :|
ReplyDeleteGreat commentary today, and I like that Casey Jr. shot, foggy bumblebee glasses and all!
I dont remember the Indian village being that many teepees...
ReplyDeletethey should have built their city on rock and roll...Im just sayin...
noticeable absence of the lovely posterage...
Frankly I prefer, "Knee deep in papoose jerky...."
ReplyDeleteYep Major, pretty dumb lyrics. I think that was also the name of the album too. The eighties!
