Knott's! September 1969
You know, if I wasn't catching world-record trout today on my mountain vacation, I'd probably be at Knott's.
Ah, those picturesque storefronts in Ghost Town, I love them more than I love rocky road ice cream. Let's play a game, shall we? Find the trash can that doesn't seem to belong. Time's up! I know, that was a tough one. I wonder what is on display in the window of the Town Hall? Can't quite make it out. Probably communist propaganda!

Oh now you made me crave rocky road ice cream. I remember you could buy a phony newspaper and have custom headlines printed on it. I bought one once that said "Connie Invades Knott"s"!
Cable care? Seriously? I don't remember that at all.
Cable cars? Absolutely. They were free transportation out to the parking lot. Those were they golden years of Knott's. It hasn't changed for the better.
Aah, that paper printed "Connie" propaganda...
Prob not as bad as Commie kind.
Have fun Major and thanks for the pics.

Let's see, the Cable Car Kitchen (now Pink's) would be to our immediate left. The Volcano would be just past that green striped awning and to the right. And that shop we see straight ahead is Marion & Toni's (named after two of the Knott's daughters...Virginia had her own gift shop, but the other two had to share.) By the way, this would have been taken after the wall went up around the park, so the old entrance would be to our immediate right. I guess they were still considering the Candy Parlour and Steak House area as part of the Ghost Town even though it was now a part of the outside shopping area.
"One of these things is not like the other..."
enjoyed spotting "Manny, the Misfit Trashcan". But you know, it's the 60s, and I bet those trash can barrels are REAL wooden barrels, with no liners, no bags, and saturated with 50 pounds of ever-fermenting garbage.
Rustic to look at, but tinky-poo.
Katella, is that quote from "Twin Peaks"? It sounds so familiar, it's driving me crazy.
TokyoMagic!, I'm starting to think you know a thing or two about Knott's.
Major:
Nothing as sophisticated as Twin Peaks, it's Sesame Street...
